2018 Scottish Enterprise Awards
8 SME NEWS / 2018 Scottish Enterprise Awards From its base in Turriff, Aberdeenshire, AD Heating Ltd provides a wide range of biomass and solar heating solutions. Part of an illustrious group of winners of our prestigious 2018 Scottish Enterprise Awards, we profile the firm to find out more about the range of solutions it provides and the award-winning service it offers to its esteemed clientele. Best Renewable Heating Solutions Company - Aberdeenshire Since 2008 AD Heating has been providing its innovative range of solutions, after Managing Director Athol was frustrated by the technical gap between Grand Designs and the reality of what the average plumber can provide. There are many innovative heating technologies which are more efficient and offer the customer a better lifestyle choice. The problem is identifying them and someone who can then install them. As such, he decided to create a company where clients could find all the expertise and solutions they needed in one place. Today, the AD Heating Vision Statement is: “A local company to support the local community with their aspirations to become more sustainable and self-supporting in their energy needs”. As part of this, the firm aim to utilise the most energy efficient solutions where possible; promote ‘green’ options to customers; to be reliable and to keep up to date with the latest technological advances within the heating and plumbing industry. Renewable technology is still a specialised subject in the UK, and AD Heating prides itself of providing a bespoke design service for each of its clients, to ensure that every project is optimised for both functionality and efficiency. The firm’s clients also have varying needs and requirements from the system, whether it is specific integrations, or whether it is about maximising green-credentials, and the expertise of the firm’s staff allows it to recommend solutions to meet and often exceed their expectations. Projects vary from being asked to retrofit a solution into an existing property, design something to suit an agricultural process, or to engineer a solution for the most efficient system using green technologies for new build houses. As well as designing and installing biomass and solar thermal systems for local Aberdeenshire clients and providing service and maintenance for its installed products, AD Heating also provides a consultancy service to clients who have had biomass systems installed by others but are now experiencing difficulty with their system or are wishing to have additional design expertise to improve the efficiency of their system. This level of advice requires significant expertise and knowledge across a wide range of specialist products, and as such the firm’s dedicated engineers have undertaken a large range of manufacturer specific training to ensure they always provide cutting-edge support and advice to their valued clients. In addition to the day to day activities of the business, where the team install and maintain renewable systems, AD Heating also maintains its commitment to ‘green’ awareness, which can be evidenced in the initiatives we take on a regular basis. Through support and engagement with the community, AD Heating are encouraging community resilience. As part of this approach, the firm have sponsored and supported a community screening of the award winning environmental documentary Demain (Tomorrow) in 2017. There was the opportunity for discussion and networking following this event which allowed attendees to exchange ideas and come up with ideas to address the issues around climate change at a local level. Additionally, each year the firm hold an event during European Sustainable Energy Week, and for the past two years it has held a “Make Do and Mend Event” as part of this. This event was in the community, for the community. AD Heating enlisted the assistance of our local Men’s Shed, their local Scout and Guide Group, and their local authority Waste and Recycling officers, as well as local crafters.
