Shanaz Rob, Managing Director at SR Investment Partners tells us more, following the company’s recent success. SR Investment Partners (SRIP) has two offices in London and Paris, with an additional office in NYC, from which it operates globally, covering Europe, Asia, USA and the Middle East. SRIP works with clients within the financial services such as Hedge Funds, Investment Banks, Asset & Wealth Managers, Private Equity, Sovereign Wealth Funds and Family offices. Managing Partner Shanaz Rob states, “We help to build funds and investment firms, the assets we cover are Convertible Arbitrage, Fixed Income Arbitrage and Commodities as well as Long/Short Credit, Long/Short Equity, Managed Futures/CTA, Multi-Strategy, ETF, Crypto, Statistical Arbitrage Strategies and Systematic Strategies globally to being part of ESG & Impact Investing movement. “In addition, we provide CIOs, CEOs Top level board members to Portfolio managers, Quantitative Researchers, Risk, Trading System Engineers & Fund Managers with a sense of innovation curiosity and technology.” The firm also has three selective pillars: Fund of Fund, Asset Raising and Search & Selection. SRIP manages a plethora of portfolios across the Americas, Asia, the UK, Europe, & the Middle East while embracing a vision of providing revenue, generating talent and investment strategies in the world’s most demanding environment. Shanaz states, “We work with clients from 300 million in AUM to over 180 billion AUM. We see our clients grow; our clients can rely on us, and we are very transparent, working in all markets cross-asset as we believe our objective is to put our clients ahead of the competition.” With SRIP’s reputation and its team of individuals that come from trading, financial services backgrounds and working in leading executive search firms, it is able to combine the mix of experience and offer what’s missing in the markets as a service. For the most part, that’s a service that caters for all areas within markets. “Only 20% do what we do as a service in the industry. SRIP stick to what they know and are the best at it.” On the Covid-19 pandemic, Shanaz states, “While some clients lost billions, we were still by their side to help, and we always like to have and give hope and make every individual we work with feel important, whether they are candidates, clients and investors. We believe in a solution focused mindset despite the complexity of the problem.” SRIP helps firms build new and existing investment divisions to increase revenue and geographical presence and offers a multi-strategy on behalf of institutional and private investors worldwide to connect with talented external managers. Furthermore, it uses an extensive internal network to link buyers and sellers to engage in potential investment opportunities, including helping funds make strategic acquisitions in UK, Europe, United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, and UAE with a long-term view. Shanaz states: ‘We are always getting referred! When we work with clients, they also refer us to their friend’s ex-colleagues who have hedge funds or manage a trading desk to family led investment firms who need our services!” Shanaz explains, “Our goal is to provide a competitive edge by concentrating on market- specific solutions for revenue-generating talent in the world’s most demanding environment. In this fast-paced environment, organizations must be prepared to go to battle for the best. We manage private strategic executive-level mandates in line with our practice partners.” With any business, there are hurdles, and Shanaz explains the personal effects she has overcome. “I built a firm quite young that was successful within a year and appointed a business partner further down the line, who turned every positive into a negative and lost everything and then I had to make drastic decisions, take risk and think fast - which now has led to global success. “As a British woman who couldn’t speak French (and having built & working in a French office), coming from a Middle Eastern /Asian heritage and never letting go of the values as a Muslim woman in business, leading employees and working in a male dominated industry speaks volumes. I believe women are powerful and always will be, simple as that. However, I like to make difference via results of my work ethic and abilities to make a difference in countries with so much division and class system, to be the best; investment firms need to diversify their portfolios in addition to have a diverse talent pool which can really make incredible ideas together for success. “I love finance, business and markets which are always changing - it’s like being part of Formula 1, you never know what can happen! We are so fortunate to work with so many different clients who rely on us whatever the time zone and hour.
