Contact: Linda Blissett Company: Bliss Studio Textiles Web Address: www.lindablissett.co.uk Finding the right designer for a fashion project can be a challenge, as it makes a key difference to the way that project is viewed. As such, choosing the right designer is all about finding the one with your best interests at heart. We speak to Linda Blissett, owner, and creator of Bliss Studio Textiles, about her journey and success. Linda Blissett is the founder of Bliss Studio Textiles, who has made a name for herself as a highly professional and extremely talented artisan designer. Linda says, “I have a great passion for craft texture, and originality in my work and create my designs to reflect that.” She creates all her handwoven pieces with most of her own weave designs and does everything that she can to use her own weaves for her clothing and accessories. Linda’s core values are all centred around creating unique, one-off pieces that have the power to leave people in awe and to satisfy all their fashion needs. She is currently adding some tailored pieces to expand the lines that she offers to clients. Linda has done work with the George Theatre Company (affiliated with the RSC) in Huntingdon Cambridgeshire where she produces clothing for the stage. With a blend of her own multi-textured fabrics woven all by hand, her avant-garde couture has brought her to success. She also upcycles materials to recycle, re-use, and reduce waste. This is particularly important in the world of fashion considering the rise in fast fashion where consumers are able to buy lots of clothes at an extremely reduced price, but with the cost being the growth of throw-away culture – a devastating phenomenon in the global climate crisis. With regards to COVID-19, Linda tells us that it has “changed things dramatically for the fashion industry, with travel and work restrictions imposed it was impossible to get into the studio.” This was also affected by the fact that large events stopped as people were forced to be at home. “With no support offered by the government to help, the creative industry was in a very difficult position indeed”, she says. Best Artisan Fashion Textiles Company 2021 Unfortunately, Linda had to shut down for 18 months. However, having used the time productively to revaluate and evolve, she is now working on rebranding and emerging even stronger than before. Linda says, “Pre-pandemic London was the hub and centre of place to be, but this has dramatically changed with working and travel restrictions.” Linda is currently working from home but is looking to set up a new studio soon. In the future, Linda will be working on lots of projects that will hopefully take her back to showcasing in London and Paris again. To support her in her ambitions for growth and the rejuvenation of her brand, Linda is also looking Jul21344
