The company was founded by Kyle Hollyome, following an extensive career as a contractor within the building industry. Tired of the slow processes, poor staffing, and delayed client communications, Kyle decided to start his own construction business with which he could offer the quality of service he desired. Kyle purchased his first van in 2014 and got to work establishing his business, KBH Building Services. In 2019, the client list was rapidly growing, and so was the paperwork. Rather than suffer through paper trails and manual reporting, the company saw an opportunity to innovate. Leveraging advanced technology, Kyle invests in proprietary software to manage and track third-party certifications, supply chains, and back office infrastructure. From here, Inhaus is born. Now, a decade since its inception, KBH Haus is a leading contractor to the largest housing associations and construction companies in the UK. The company offers an all-encompassing construction service that includes the manufacturing and supply of timber and UPVC windows and doors, fire safety maintenance, voids, planned works, responsive works for emergencies and repairs, retrofit and decarbonisation, in addition to bespoke and private projects. KBH Haus strives to remain a step ahead of its competitors at all levels of operation. The company responsibly manages its finances to save cashflow, which also allows it to buy materials in bulk. This is an incredibly advantageous strategy, as having a large stock of materials means that shortages do not delay works. Furthermore, KBH Haus also invests in its supply chain, via logistics, vehicles, drivers, equipment, and tools. This investment enables the company to guarantee reliable services to its clients, ensuring that everything is delivered on time and on budget. “KBH Haus has a long-term vision in an industry full of short-sighted competitors,” George tells us. “It tries to identify risks and challenges in advance of them occurring, seeking a solution or a contingency before the issues have materialised. All of this is in order to achieve the goal of never letting a client down.” To further achieve this goal, KBH Haus proudly operates two manufacturing sites in Norfolk and Bulgaria. This expansion has allowed KBH Haus to eliminate its reliance on third-party suppliers, enabling the company to deliver its products on time, on budget, and with sufficient quality checks undertaken by its own team. Additionally, having control of its supply allows the company to directly utilise feedback from clients, residents, and sites in its product design and manufacturing. This means that its products are always reflective of the market’s demands and are, therefore, emulate precisely what its clients need. George notes a definite focus on decarbonisation across the industry, as clients seek more energy efficient products and services that show a certified, proven impact on the energy rating of a property. “In London, this is a particularly challenging demand,” he says, “as there are many properties and buildings with limited flexibility in planning options due to their historic, urban nature. Making those buildings more energy efficient while keeping in line with planning restrictions is a complex task.
