Prior to establishing KAST, Kes Scott spent a decade working as an electrician, where he fitted all the energy saving technologies that his company now offers today. After ten years, Ken moved to an office role at a large corporation in sales and account management. Ken’s training in sales and marketing techniques proved invaluable in setting up KAST, providing him with an advantage in the competitive industry. In 2004, Ken established his own successful electrical installation company where he served as Managing Director for 9 years. During this period, Ken saw the market shift towards low energy and made the leap in 2014 to found KAST, a renewable energy company. Ken says, “As a technology company in the electrical industry, having been an electrician who has fitted each of our technologies really helps. I’m able to offer advice where others may not be able to. “I would advise anyone thinking about starting their own business to put a plan together with KPI’s. When you begin to grow and take on staff, you need to add effective communication to your strategy. We have weekly communication meetings each week in the office with our senior management and project managers. This is filtered down effectively to our installation teams and a weekly ‘tool time talk’ carried out by our Project Managers. This is instrumental in us all achieving a single goal, a successful installation.” As Managing Director, Ken strives to lead by example and has built a culture of honesty within the organisation.
