They have also built a curing chamber which uses the exothermic reaction of the cement hydration to self-heat the chamber, improving curing time and using less energy. Furthermore, any excess concrete that is unused from their processes is collected by a local company that recycles it as class 1 aggregates for the construction of road surfaces and pathways. Other developments towards reducing their environmental impact include using coiled rebar in their cage manufacturing process, which produces less waste. Additionally, the small amount of waste produced in this process is also later recycled locally. By establishing waste handlers that share the same values, Centrum Pile were able to achieve their goal of recycling or reusing 100% of the waste they produce.
