37 | Midlands Enterprise Awards 2020 Sep20411 Best Holistic Domiciliary Care Provider - Shropshire Domiciliary care provider, Approved Care and Support might be in its infancy as a business however the company’s core values, and customer commitment are unquestionable. SME News caught up with Manager at the Shrewsbury Branch Caroline Binnersley to hear more about their service, their training academy, their careers and their customers and what led to their recent award win in the SME News Midlands Enterprise Awards 2020. Approved Care and Support is a private home care provider based in the Shrewsbury and Oswestry areas. Built from many years of experience and through a passion for providing a quality service in and around Shrewsbury and Oswestry, the care provider has soon become recognised within the field for its unquestionable care, service and dedication to its customers. Going into further detail, Manager Caroline Binnersley begins by providing us with further insight into the services the team offers, as well as the goals they aim to achieve. “It is the aim of Approved Care and Support to deliver a service of quality personal care and associated domestic services to meet the needs of vulnerable people in their own home environment. We achieve this by promoting a standard of excellence which embraces fundamental principles of a quality care service. Our core values are simple, if we find people that want to work in the care sector and care we will look after them and support them, which will ensure they will support and look after our customers. Our values have remained consistent since opening our first branch in 2017.” Each customer receives a bespoke service from the team, ensuring a flexible and holistic approach. The care provider operates within a small geographical region meaning that rather than carers spending time travelling, they can spend quality time with customers delivering vital services and care. Approved Care and Support take employee training very seriously in order to ensure all staff are fully equipped to provide the best possible service to customers. All staff receive bespoke training delivered within the Approved Training Academy, including induction and refresher training which all employees receive as standard, plus more job specific training such as moving and assisting customers for example. Recruiting the right people to the team is very important to Approved Care and Support, qualities such as empathy, passion, dedication and a genuine desire to ‘care’ are all key attributes for new recruits. When speaking about the team, manager Caroline Binnersley shared that, “Here at Approved Care and Support, we value our care workers and think they are doing an amazing job. In this current climate all of our care workers have gone above and beyond. To date, they have ensured they have kept themselves safe and in turn have protected our vulnerable customers, as well as their loved ones.” The pandemic has been a difficult time for care workers and their customers with many workers being very worried about the wellbeing of their customers. This has resulted in many individuals being reluctant to enter into such a profession at this time. However, on the flip side to that there have been a good many people who have had a rethink about just what really is important to them in their career and in turn have moved into care. With plans for continued growth and expansion in services, we look forward to hearing more of Approved Care and Support and their outstanding work, and catching up with them again in the future.
