Midlands Enterprise Awards in 2025

SME News Midlands Enterprise Awards 2025/ 34 Most Innovative Workplace Mediation Provider 2025 Based in Nottinghamshire, Prospero Mediation and Training is a business owned by veteran, Chris Breedon, who recently drew his RAF career to a close after 40 years. As such, his background in management and leadership makes him the perfect mediator, alongside his wife, Tracey, for clients’ workplace conflict needs. Prospero Mediation and Training’s range of CPD Group Accreditation courses don’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach, they are delivered by qualified, accredited mediators, and they can be adapted to meet the unique needs of each client. We speak to Chris to find out more about the organisation and its offering. Jun25111 Prospero Mediation and Training operates on the core values of honesty and integrity, reliably delivering what it says it will to an exceptional standard. It helps managers and leaders to develop the conflict management and resolution skills they need to quickly identify and resolve conflict. The business’ aim is to help people manage conflict efficiently, reduce stress levels, and improve quality of life. It can further aid this through neutral, confidential mediation support, as needed. Chris Breedon is a renowned problem solver and leader, who keeps people at the centre of the resolution process. He has a strong ability to bring people together and increase their understanding of the importance of strong communication and improved working relationships. The services and courses offered by Prospero Mediation and Training are available nationally, either in person or over Teams or Zoom. They include Mediation Skills (five days); Mediation Skills for Managers (two days); Mediation skills for Professionals (1 day); Conflict Management (half a day); Active Listening (half a day); Unconscious Bias (half a day); and Bitesize Bias (one hour). It also offers Conflict Coaching services and is DISC Accredited for delivery of psychometric profiling. Making the most of Prospero Mediation and Training’s services are a wide range of clients including the NHS, ASB Resolve, Workforceone, the Royal Air Force, and the British Army as well as a number of professional training providers. “The course (Conflict Management) was informative, well-constructed, and interactively presented, making it good fun. What struck me personally was that all my activity in the last three years has been on Zoom meetings. For me, a face-to-face environment and the interaction it provided enhanced the experience. Looked at in a different way, training can be seen as not only a learning environment, but also an “event” offering benefits over and beyond the initial subject.” - Colin W. “There seems to be a growing recognition nationally that conflict costs the UK economy a vast amount of money per annum – something in the region of £28.5 billion,” Chris tells us. “Many businesses are coming alive to the fact that unmanaged conflict is destructive to workforce health and wellbeing and are starting to invest in training and mediation services. Properly managed conflict can be healthy for organisational growth, but it needs to be managed well. Many organisations are training staff to be mediators, which is a good sign, but internal mediators are often viewed with suspicion because, ultimately, those staff still work for the organisation and can never be truly neutral. That’s where we come in.” Thus, Prospero Mediation and Training is focused on continued innovation. It is currently developing a very specific mediation course that delves deeper into key aspects such as active listening and the genesis and evolution of conflict. Chris tells us that the rest of 2025 is getting very busy for the business as he and Tracey look to develop more courses, promote their offering, and expand their reach. That’s without the great collaborations they have lined up! Company name: Prospero Mediation and Training Contact name: Chris Breedon Website: www.prosperomediationandtraining.co.uk
