Vanessa Juby didn’t always want to be a coach. Prior to retraining, she spent 20 years on her career in marketing, climbing the corporate ladder, grappling for promotions, smashing KPIs – and not prioritising herself. The first inkling of physical and mental struggle began during Vanessa’s time at Unilever, but she ignored it and pushed through. However, she could never have imagined what was to come. With hardly any prior symptoms and no family history of rheumatoid arthritis, her diagnosis came as a big shock. Feeling so unwell, Vanessa made the decision to step away from her board-level role and focus on recovery. From there, she discovered the Paddison Programme, which required a complete change in diet, daily exercise, and meditation. Vanessa took the programme on, her goal being to no longer need the drugs and to transform her quality of life. Six years later, you wouldn’t know the adversity she went through, having completely transformed her physical and mental wellbeing – despite being told it wouldn’t be possible. “It took all of my determination in those early days to create and uphold new habits, but the results were staggering and fast. Major swelling in my finger joints greatly improved after only 12 days on the programme.” – Vanessa Juby Compelled by the transformative power of lifestyle changes and daily choices, Vanessa established Welfy, a business with values of authenticity, fairness, integrity, collaboration, and joy at its core. She embeds her lived experiences into workplace training on areas such as building health habits that stick, forming and upholding boundaries, advanced communication for wellbeing, and why connection is important for a healthy and happy life. Today, Welfy works with a list of small and large business clients – including Mars, Müller, Lucky Saint, and Clinisupplies – which share its values and recognise the importance of looking after their people, because it is ethical, but also because a happy team means boosted business performance and results. With eight out of ten employees feeling burnout at least some of the time, according to Gallup, and one in six on antidepressants, according to 2024 NHS data, it has never been more crucial that businesses step up. Welfy goes on to offer training for managers, as well, inviting them to enhance their people skills and ability to nurture working environments where others can flourish. Its Lead Well programme covers topic areas such as manager 101, manager as coach, how to create and maintain psychological safety, and brave conversations. “We believe that when success is redefined – when all aspects of life are given fair attention and people can show up as their true selves – people and businesses thrive.” –Vanessa Juby “Welfy is uniquely able to bring big business thinking to the sometimes tangible area of wellbeing. We understand that it has to be measurable and provide a return on investment,” Vanessa tells us. “We know that every person and every business culture is unique, so our approach is personalised based on our clients’ needs and the data we source from our own diagnostic tool, The Temperature Check. We are different because we will not answer briefs that are ‘box ticking’ - a lunchtime webinar so you can say you’ve “done wellbeing this year”. We work with clients who are serious about the proven link between wellbeing and engagement. Prepare to partner with us over years, not days, to understand exactly what is needed in the organisation and to set about delivering upon that with our support.” Now, Welfy is putting a lot of energy into integrating coaching into its entire offering, with the belief that this is the key to behavioural change. As Vanessa says, “We can all have a nice time sitting in an engaging training session, but if there is no meaningful change off the back of it, what was the point? It is coaching that enables the learning to be embedded and culture to change for the better as a result.” Company Name: Welfy Contact Name: Vanessa Juby Web Address: www.welfy.co.uk Welfy is a business born as a result of founder, Vanessa Juby’s own story – one of brilliant determination, where she came out on the other side of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and burnout, following the birth of her son.
