We speak to Founders Robert Young and Darren Halliday to find out more about the company and its plans for the future. Home CCTV Services is a family-run business, based in Leeds, which specialises in providing security camera installations and maintenance. Established in 2016 by Darren Halliday and Robert Young, the aim was to provide first class systems for homeowners and the duo chose to focus solely on CCTV as their security measure of choice. “Adding a CCTV system to your home can improve safety, reduce your risk of theft or burglary and offer you and your family peace of mind,” explains Founder, Robert. “As most thefts on the home are opportunist, a CCTV system can act as a great visible deterrent.” When first starting out, Robert’s research suggested that large commercial CCTV companies only wanted big jobs and didn’t seem to want to deal with individual homeowners. They weren’t geared up to deal with the customer service and help needed by a homeowner as newcomers to CCTV. Further market research showed that the biggest waste of money was homeowners having to buy new systems repeatedly when technical issues occurred as their original installers washed their hands of it. Robert saw an opportunity to change this. “We pride ourselves on great service, with hundreds of glowing reviews from happy customers to match,” Darren continues. “Our systems are designed to be usable, regardless of your technical ability. This is just one of our unique selling points, with the others being that no-one else offers free lifetime tech support, with no sub-contractors, plus a five-star aftercare service to boot.” Best Domestic CCTV Installations Business 2021 Initially the company only served the Yorkshire area, however after extending its experience and services to incorporate commercial premises as well as residential, the firm has grown to cover most of the north of England as well as the Midlands, with further plans to go national in the future. Whilst the home security industry may have become saturated with ‘fly by night’ firms, Darren tells us how Home CCTV shines above them with its family business approach. “All our employees are an extension of our family,” he states. “We recruit people who have years of experience installing in people’s homes, ex Sky, BT, Virgin etcetera, and they all report that this is the best company they’ve ever worked for!” The Covid-19 pandemic shook the UK to the core and brought many businesses to their knees, however for Robert and the team at Home CCTV it was a time for reflection. “Lockdown gave us the chance to re-group,” he says. “Our productivity has since doubled and we are ever- growing, plus we are hoping to go national in due course.” Recently, the firm has been rewarded for its hard work and friendly attitude by receiving a Northern Enterprise Award from SME News for Best Domestic CCTV Installations Business 2021 – for Robert, Darren and the team, the future is looking very bright indeed.
