Moreover, she is constantly studying, and is in the process of finishing a two-year nutrition diploma whilst also studying Applied Zoopharmacognosy, striving to keep up to date with current advice. Of course, it is also vital to remain on top of industry trends, as Helena explains: ‘Like all industries at the moment the raw meat is affected by price increases, but not only that fuel surcharges for delivery, packaging materials for UK shipping. We try and recycle as much packaging as possible, encouraging our local customers to return any packaging from their weekend deliveries or collecting on our next trip. We also reuse any incoming delivery packaging to minimise rubbish going to landfill.’ It is clear that sustainability is a fundamental factor within Poochie Park’s core values as down the line, it has plans to install solar panels. Whilst it is currently searching for someone to carry out such a project, the addition of solar panels would enable Poochie Park and Poochie Pantry to acquire an even greater level of self-sustenance whilst also further benefiting its community and the planet.
