We find out more from Managing Director, Alison Stephenson as the firm gains recognition in the Northern Enterprise Awards 2022. AAA Caring Caretaker Ltd was formed in 2015 initially to support its sister company. Today, AAA is a major regional player in providing high specification cleaning solutions to clients, such as the NHS, PD Ports, and the MoD, ranging from offices to external cleaning and property maintenance. “Our mission from the outset and central to our core ethoswasoneofprovidingavalueformoneyservice,” explains Alison Stephenson. “This is supported and endorsed by our three As – Assurance of our work; Accreditation of our work to standards such as 90012015; and being Aspirational and forever striving to improve and innovate.” With 15 years’ worth of experience in developing businesses, bringing in contracts, and negotiating and closing deals, Alison plays a role in the financial side of the business, too, recently switching to focus onto the HR side of the company, with bid writing as a key skill. She also has an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management and holds “Fellow” status as the Institute of Leadership and Management. As a deaf person, Alison holds her Level 6 in British Sign Language (BSL), Level 3 in Equality and Diversity, and, as part of her passion for training, she holds her Certificate in Education. She is committed to her own professional development and has undertaken her Level 7 in HR Management. Alison was instrumental in enabling the company to progress from Disability Committed Level 1 to Level 2, Disability Employer – now to Level 3. These are just a few of the things which set us aside from competitors.” Cleaning is often low on the agenda for many companies, along with cost expectations, although the Covid pandemic did a lot to raise the awareness of cleaning, and the associated methodology required to clean correctly has risen accordingly. Now, the need for companies to be proactive in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and also their environmental impact, has started to become a requirement on many contracts, along with the social impact. Alison goes on to say, “On the social aspect, AAA Caring Caretaker has proven to be a strong contender with a “Toms” value for last year of £95,000. This is a particularly high value number for a company of our size and strongly reflects our work in the community.” AAA holds the title of Employer of the Year 2022 in the British Ex Forces in Business Awards, as well as the London Stock Exchange Business Growth Award 2021 in the Soldiering on Awards 2021. “These awards help demonstrate our not only our standards, but commitment to excel,” continues Alison. “Today, we are proud to employ over 41 personnel, with 17 ex Forces among our ranks, and across the team we support 11 members who have disabilities.” The latest accolade to add to the trophy cabinet is the prestigious title of Most Trusted Commercial Cleaning Business - County Durham, as awarded by SME News in its Northern Enterprise Awards. Now, as the firm looks to the future, it seems there are big plans for growth and expansion on the horizon. “Weare soonmoving intoour new, larger premises, which are currently undergoing renovation,” Alison enthuses. “This new investment in our company will not only mean we own our own offices, but will have the opportunity to rent a couple of offices and offer a new state-of-the-art conference and training facility.
