Established in 2011, Dance Design Events produces dance and variety shows, events, and competitions. Over the last decade, the company has become a goliath in the larger industry, hosting numerous dance events across the country. Following Dance Design Events’ success in the awards programme, we spoke with producer, Jenni Nolan-Owens to find out more about this pacesetting company. Best Dance Event Production Company 2023 - North West Let’s start at a natural beginning and jump to what Dance Design Events is best known for – That’s Showbiz, the biggest dance competition of its kind in the UK. This event often attracts some 12,000 spectators alongside an additional 7,000 dancers who enter the competition. To say this is an impressive feat would be an understatement and acts as a strong testament to the potency and expertise of Dance Design Events and its team. Here, Jenni begins by detailing how Dance Design Events has achieved its leading reputation in this ever-competitive space. “We host heats all over the UK with semifinals and a grand final hosted at the prestigious Blackpool Opera House and Winter Gardens. We also host our very popular Elite Dance Championships (EDC) in association with Haven Holiday Parks. The competition welcomes dance schools to compete across a whole weekend in solos, duos, trios, and groups in an Olympic style medal scoring system, with the hopes of being crowned Elite Dance Champions. The competition has gotten so popular we are due to launch our EDC one-day events in February at Blackpool and the team are so excited to see what talent awaits us!” Ultimately, with Dance Design Events hosting nationwide competitions, it has secured a special place in the market that few can match. Indeed, most others in this space focus on regional and local events – putting Dance Design Events in a clear leading position. We love people and don’t judge others.” As it stands, the future of Dance Design Events is going to start off with a bang – The next few months is bringing about That’s Showbiz semifinals in January at Blackpool Winter Gardens, and that’s just the start, as Jenni explains in her closing comments. “Following the semifinals, we’ll be hosting the grand final in March. We also have our brand-new event launching in February – the Elite Dance Championships: The Experience, a one-day event for schools to battle it out in solos, duos, trios, and groups in an Olympic style medal scoring system, with the hopes of being crowned Elite Dance Champions. We also have the EDC summer schedule at Haven Holiday Parks followed by the That’s Showbiz 24/25 heats in the autumn/winter 2025 going international.
