Established in 2017, Rope Access Man Power UK Ltd came about when directors, Michael O’Gara and Lee Thompson were working on a wind turbine 25 metres above the German North Sea and decided to set up a rope access business. Built from the ground up by the dynamic duo, both of whom have extensive experience within the rope access industry across the globe and boast impressive portfolios, the business flourishes today. It all began when Lee and Michael found themselves constantly being contacted by the procurement officers from the companies they were working for themselves asking if they knew anyone who could fill a position on other jobs around the world. Realising there was a gap in the market, along with a chance to help other rope access technicians with finding work, they set up RAMP. As the company continued to grow, requests for rope access technicians started to come in from around the world. Many oil and gas, wind energy, industrial, and construction companies who knew the pair from working in the industry themselves were now beginning to ask for their help in finding the right person for the jobs they had. After moving into their new premises in January 2019 and fitting out a state-of-the-art training facility, RAMP was awarded the highly commended IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) membership – the industry standard regulatory body. RAMP then moved away from recruitment and focused on training and operations. As an IRATA training member organisation and operator, RAMP has all the tools, skills, and knowledge to help get its clients’ rope access projects off to a flying start. Rewarded with a handsome salary, plus the opportunity to travel the world to exotic and far flung locations across the globe, a career as a rope technician is both lucrative and exciting. With training courses consisting of four days of training and one day of assessment, RAMP can provide everything needed to get qualified and working within the industry. One recently qualified rope technician couldn’t praise the company enough for its diligence in getting him the qualification. “I recently have just done my level 1 here,” enthuses B Brunskill. “Instructors and facilities are top-class. Would definitely recommend! All the lads and staff make you feel at home. Will be back to do my level 2 without a doubt.” Recently, in recognition of the firm’s determination to succeed, RAMP gained notable recognition in the Northern Enterprise Awards and was bestowed with the prestigious accolade of Rope Access Training Company of the Year 2023. This award is testament to the hard work that the team have put in. RAMP has worked across the globe in different environments and the future looks bright. Long may it continue!
