Established in 2021, The Bus Yard specialises in delivering an array of culinary delights, including street food and craft cocktails – all delivered in a creatively renovated buses and shipping containers. Following its recognition in the awards programme, we spoke with director, Andy Laird to find out more about this truly memorable venue. Best Emerging Food & Drink Concept 2023 - North West The years since the pandemic have brought about a wave of innovation in the events and hospitality industries, looking to deliver new experiences on the back of marketwide stagnation. Among these innovators, The Bus Yard has become a standout venue for its commitment to deliver a near peerless experience through a perfect balance of elements. With a vision defined by delivering a quality experience informed through creativity, sustainability, and community engagement, The Bus Yard has quickly built a strong reputation in this competitive sphere, as Andy begins. “Our vision is clear: to ascend as the preeminent name in the events industry. This journey involves constant growth with the establishment of new sites, fostering meaningful relationships, and a relentless pursuit of refining our offerings to achieve unparalleled excellence. While it may be an obvious point to highlight our distinctive converted bus, our unique selling point extends beyond mere novelty. We take pride in our unwavering commitment to providing an unparalleled product and guest experience.” Ultimately, in Andy’s words, the strength of The Bus Yard lies in its “simplicity” – “We offer straightforward options executed with exceptional precision”. Think fresh produce, sourced from the best vendors. No shortcuts. Just good, honest food. This has been the driving force behind the company’s success this year, in light of what has been a challenging environment to see profits. While The Bus Yard’s unique selling point lies in its initial presentation, Andy and the team also keep a very close eye on social media to see how they can “level-up” and improve their own marketing and exposure on those platforms. “Immersing ourselves in the ever-evolving landscapes of Instagram and TikTok, we’re not only tracking the latest trends in food and drink but also exploring innovative ways to elevate our digital content for our discerning customer base,” Andy adds before continuing on to discuss what achievements have been met over the last year. “This year marked a resounding success for us, thanks to the introduction of our new cocktail menu. Delivering an exhilarating array of frozen drinks with unique flavours each week, our offerings have struck a chord with our guests. Recognising a shift in our guests’ preferences, we’ve observed a desire for a more comprehensive experience. In response, we take pride in presenting ourselves as the ultimate one-stop destination, seamlessly blending innovative drinks, delectable food, and engaging entertainment for everyone’s enjoyment. Looking ahead, we firmly believe that northwest Liverpool, especially, is poised to become a leader in the food and drink sector and hospitality at large. The city centre has witnessed remarkable additions this year, and we were thrilled to be part of the Eurovision 2023 campaign – a significant event that not only attracted millions of people but also injected millions of pounds into our local economy. The next few years hold exciting prospects for our thriving region.” But for now, the focus for the coming months lies in delivering across the busy winter period. Of particular note, The Bus Yard’s signature hot chocolates, now being delivered across semi-permanent locations in Liverpool One and its flagship site at Crosby Marina when the summer months return. “Currently, our enchanting winter village at Knowsley Safari Park is a testament to our commitment, offering an expanded menu of delectable street food and bespoke hot chocolates. We proudly collaborate with esteemed clients such as the Jockey Club, Reminisce Festival, and the Open Golf.” In his closing comments, Andy reflects on The Bus Yard’s success and what the path looks like ahead. “The Bus Yard’s journey has been truly exhilarating, and I'm confident that the future holds even more excitement. Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce our return to familiar sites like Liverpool One, Crosby, and Reminisce Festival, along with continued commitment to our existing projects. While we’re keeping details about new sites under wraps for now, you’ll just have to stay tuned and follow us to be in the loop.
