Northern Enterprise Awards 2025

Established in 1998 and based in Castleford, West Yorkshire, Target Components (Target) is a supplier of IT components, devices, PCs, laptops, networking products, servers, and everything in between to IT resellers in the UK – and at the centre of its service offering is the simple mantra of “We’re successful if our customers are successful”. We learn more about Target’s outstanding product and service offering from Marketing Manager, Scott Frankling. Best Custom PC Builder 2025 – Yorkshire & Enterprise IT Support Excellence Award 2025 Target Components proudly offers world-class customer service, and it comes with an NPS (Net Promoter Score) of 80 and a quarter of a century’s experience in distribution – but what really sets it apart is that three years ago, it became employee owned. “It changed the culture overnight,” Scott tells us. “Every single person at Target is now personally invested in what we do, how we operate, and how our customers feel about us. We know that, whether you speak to a manager, a salesperson, or someone in the warehouse, you’re going to get the best possible service from a company that cares deeply about what we do.” Within its offering, Target builds PCs for a range of businesses and educational establishments, as well as gaming, security, and home users, all of which come with the same meticulous attention to detail and high level of passion. Indeed, the domination of technology into every part of our daily lives continues to feed the business, whether it’s enterprises requiring whole new networks installed in their offices, schools and colleges needing new laptops and PCs, or gamers seeking the very latest in hardware. Of course, Target recognises how AI is another technology that has weaved itself into many areas of our lives. For businesses and even schools to harness its potential, they need the equipment to access it. Scott explains, “What people actually need or want varies wildly, even between seemingly similar clients, but we have over 12 years’ experience building custom PCs and the supporting hardware for a myriad of different uses – We can genuinely build anything our customers need, thanks to our unique Custom PC Builder, which offers over 312 trillion different PC configurations, a majority of which will incorporate AI in some way, be it as an end-user tool or as a way of creating more efficient workflows.” He adds, “This amazing platform has led us to build machines for everyone, from school kids and offices, through to Honda for their engine testing facilities, a dairy farm real-time monitoring milk production, and even the PCs that control signalling on HS2.” “Target is a great place to work – We all take a great deal of pride and responsibility for what we do and how Target presents itself. Whilst we’re growing our staff number, I should also say that we have a large proportion of staff who have also been here for a number of years – Three have been here for over 25!” For Target, its focus on not just being good but the best remains at its core. And this means it is extremely resilient. When things go south, like during the pandemic, it can mobilise its staff and continue working throughout, supporting thousands of IT experts in setting up hybrid workers, moving office workers to home setups, and setting up robust Wi-Fi systems that support the needs of entire families. This incredible determination and understanding that everyone has a role to play continues to draw in new customers, with around 80% of its monthly new accounts being referrals, as well as new brands that want Target to be their distributor. With all of this in mind, the future is looking incredibly bright for Target Components. We ask Scott to give us an insight into what it entails. “We've just been appointed exclusive distributor of a digital whiteboard and screen manufacturer in the UK that allows us and our customers to offer more in the education, conferencing, and hospitality sectors; we've relaunched our B2B arm, Servers Plus, as a service-driven supplier and consultancy; our business, education and security PC brand, LOGIX, is growing exponentially as Windows 10 support comes to a close and businesses, schools, and colleges invest in more futureproofed hardware; and our own monitor brand, piXL, has just passed its 100,000th unit sale (in just five years), putting it on the map as a genuine option for home, business, education and more. “The plan for 2026 is to take all these projects and plans and grow them. We have a growing number of staff in line with the growth of the business so we can address our growing markets.” Company name: Target Components Contact name: Scott Frankling Website: www.targetcomponents.co.uk
