Among the group’s specialities is its latent defects insurance, a 10 or 12-year, long tail insurance policy, which insures the structure of a newly built home or commercial property against latent defects which could not have been reasonably detected during the build period by site inspections undertaken by our in-house, qualified building surveyors. These can be caused by a defect in the design, workmanship or materials used. Working alongside developers, builders etc. to get things right on- site, first time is the group’s core focus, but it requires dedicated staff. MDIS has 400 employees and has covered over £57 billion of commercial and residential properties across the UK, Ireland and Europe. As part of its focus on supporting its staff, MDIS works with the local community and runs a ‘Great Place to Work’ scheme which includes various fund-raising initiatives and giving staff time off for volunteering work.
