The Soundproof Windows, based in London, offers a range of innovative sound-proofing products to help restore peace and harmony to our busy lives. We speak to Alicja Mzyk about this unique offering. The Soundproof Windows designs and installs bespoke acoustic noise reduction windows, doors and systems, which are designed specifically to tackle noise complaints, to residential and commercial clients. Initially providing timber acoustic windows, the firm has branched out over the years and expanded its product range to offer its clients a complete end-to-end solution to their noise control. This includes supplying and fitting timber and aluminium windows and doors, acoustic ventilation, soundproofing of walls, floors and ceilings. Over the last two years the company has developed one of the most advanced studio systems on the market, the studio window which has a rating of 59dB. “Our mission is to provide effective, tested and eco-friendly solutions and give honest advice based on training and in-depth knowledge of acoustics and engineering,” explains Company Director, Alicja Mzyk. “We take a holistic approach. The end result for the client is creating a quiet space and we investigate and suggest ways to achieve that.” From the beginning, The Soundproof Windows has been a family-run business and core values it has today were inherited from the company founders. These values are centred around honesty, craftsmanship, innovation, continuous development and teamwork. Over the years, Alicja has noticed a growing trend towards people becoming more and more aware of the noises surrounding them and becoming actively involved in trying to find solutions to this problem. With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, more people have been forced to work from home which has, in turn, exposed them to more irritating noises than they perhaps noticed beforehand. “Whether it’s overhead aircraft, antisocial disturbances or road traffic, we use the science of sound to restore peace and quiet to your home,” she says. The internal culture at The Soundproof Windows is that of a positive, ‘can-do’ nature. Alicja strives to ensure that all the teams are fully trained, equipped and can be trusted by clients to provide the service to ensure complete customer satisfaction. There is a strong focus on constant training and development, so that every staff member is kept fully up to date with the latest changes in this ever-evolving industry. With regards to the future, The Soundproof Windows has big plans to expand outside of the London area, as well as to obtain additional certification, such as PAS2030 (eco building) and PAS24 (enhanced safety for new builds). “We are also looking to become carbon zero in the near future,” Alicja enthuses. “We currently plant trees for each order and use sustainably sourced timber.” In fact, the company is a proud sponsor of Trees for Life, a conservation charity dedicated to rewilding the Scottish Highlands which currently consists of 44 tree planting sites and has planted nearly two million trees to date. “Working with thermal insulation, we are all too aware of how much energy we waste,” she continues. “That’s why we are committed to decreasing our own environmental impact. By ensuring that all of our communications are digital, we have cut down on 90% of our paper usage and endeavour to reduce all emissions as best we can. “When sourcing new suppliers, we also seek out businesses that are also doing their part. Whether it’s getting rid of paper, planting a tree for every order or donating to forest conservation, we want to ensure that our products are ethically sourced and of the highest quality.” Company: The Soundproof Windows Contact: Alicja Mzyk Website: www.thesoundproofwindows.co.uk
