Following its well-deserved success in the Greater London Enterprise Awards 2020, we got in touch with Martin Keenan to find out more about SME News’ Roofing Company of the Year. Established in 2016, M&K Roofing can handle any roofing requirements and complete projects to the highest standards of workmanship thanks to its experienced and skilled team of building professionals. Going into further detail, Martin begins by providing us with a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into its clientele. “As a family-run business, we specialise in roofing overhauls and repairs. In addition, we are experts in cold applied liquid roofing systems, re-pointing, roof replacements and rendering amongst other areas. With competitive rates and no call-out fee, what we quote is what you will pay from start to finish.” Across Greater London, the firm is in direct competition with several other roofing companies, however as Martin informs us, its commitment to innovation and reliability has enabled the team to stand out from the crowd. “The YouTube channel gives our customers a great insight into roofing, from how to install a complete new roof to rectifying poorly installed fibreglass. Having built a great 4K YouTube portfolio, we are still the only roofing company that offers 4K video reports before, during and after constructions. As standard, these are typically emailed to our customers free of charge.” To ensure the firm can offer its clients the best service possible, new employees undertake training programmes. When discussing his approach to recruiting, Martin reveals some of the key characteristics he looks for in individuals. “Generally, we recruit people who are proactive and have a can-do attitude, but to support the development of new recruits we can offer training in all areas of roofing.” Despite the outbreak of COVID-19, the firm has still managed to prosper during these difficult and uncertain times, as Martin explains further. “During these testing times, we have been offering free emergency repairs for the elderly and our NHS staff. Thanking them for all their hard work is certainly the least we can do.” Bringing the interview to a close, Martin signs off by discussing some of the main benefits of the firm’s location, before outlining the exciting plans which lie in the pipeline for M&K Roofing in 2021 and beyond. “With the vast majority of our work occurring in London and the surrounding areas, we are perfectly located to respond to our clients’ needs and take on new projects. “Moving forward, we would like to expand our company by focusing more on our apprenticeship scheme for young teens with dyslexia.
