Established in 2017, W.E.L.Safe is an experienced NFP organisation dedicated to creating safer spaces at live events, clubs, and festivals. With years of practical experience at large scale events, the company also provides standard and bespoke training and develops innovative projects to engage and educate audiences. It is W.E.L.Safe’s mission to offer non-judgemental support to those in the nighttime economy and create safer spaces at events across the UK and overseas. For its life-changing services, we have bestowed W.E.L.Safe with a Northern Enterprise Award. Best Live Event Safety Education Company 2023 After years of working alongside large scale events and third-party suppliers, W.E.L.Safe understands the importance of adhering to best practices and offering high standards of care. Its team works proactively to streamline communication between departments, efficiently share information, and safeguard patrons. W.E.L.Safe is committed to providing people with support around substances, mental health, wellbeing, and sexual health. The NFP organisation delivers essential education to young people, enabling them to make informed decisions and reduce risk-taking behaviours. Additionally, W.E.L.Safe provides training to volunteers, partners, and professionals regarding event welfare and issues affecting vulnerable individuals in their communities. W.E.L.Safe (Welfare, Education, and Learning) works to a harm reduction model in alcohol, drugs, mental health, NPS, tobacco, sexual health, and wellbeing. Its hard-working team of volunteers is dedicated to supporting attendees who may require space to recuperate and talk in a confidential space away from the main event. W.E.L.Safe has delivered welfare and non-judgemental support at events such as The Warehouse Project, The Albert Hall Manchester, Parklife, YNOT Festival, Hideout in Croatia, Lost and Found in Malta, Snowboarding in Austria, and many more. Over the last three years, W.E.L.Safe has developed a data monitoring system that enables users to view data in real time and monitor the number of people accessing welfare. The AI-driven system offers valuable insights into audiences such as demographics, interventions, discharge location, time spent in welfare, and much more. Data can be shared instantly with QR codes, meaning professionals can easily access important data when they need it. W.E.L.Safe has also created an outreach tool to support comprehensive data collection across all outreach teams. The tool allows users to map out their venue or event to view hot spots where attendees may require the most support. This allows for informed decision making and early interventions so that event organisers can stop issues before they escalate and offer appropriate support to vulnerable people. More recently, W.E.L.Safe has noticed events and organisations taking an active interest in the wellbeing of their customers and staff. The NFP has also seen an increase in event attendees seeking support, especially neurodivergent individuals and those with underlying mental health concerns. These customers will enjoy their experiences more with the knowledge that there are supportive onsite services available if they require them. On their experience, Rafa van den Brink shares, “In August 2023, I attended the Dimensions Festival in Tisno, Croatia. The W.E.L.Safe crew was readily available, helpful, and knowledgeable. They provided me with all the proper equipment to enjoy the music without going deaf. I am thankful to Jasmine for her professionalism, understanding, and compassion.” W.E.L.Safe has grown to become one of the leading providers of welfare for events, event attendees, and staff at large scale events across the UK and overseas. With its diverse group of volunteers, the company delivers crucial welfare and harm reduction at live events, clubs, and festivals. Alongside event support, W.E.L.Safe offers educational sessions to young people with information on how to keep themselves safe and make informed decisions. These sessions can be tailored to audiences’ needs and adapted to cover specific topics in detail. The NFP organisation also delivers training to volunteers, parents, and professionals, providing them with the latest information regarding issues related to young people and vulnerable adults. Moving forward, the company will continue to create safer spaces for all with its valuable welfare services, interactive education sessions, and bespoke training. We are excited to see how W.E.L.Safe will continue to support communities and enable patrons to have the best possible event experiences. W.E.L.Safe’s essential services has led the company to receive this year’s award for Best Live Event Safety Education Company.
