SME News Q1 2025 / 18 Tecnis Academy: Leaving No Child Behind With the right support, every child is capable of learning and achieving great academic performance. Champions of this philosophy, Tecnis Academy uses tried, tested, fun, and easy-to-recall approaches to support children in gaining confidence in their own academic abilities. We learn more from Tutu Aina-Mays below, Founder of Tecnis, as the visionary company is named in the 2025 Business Elite Awards. Based in Kent, Tecnis serves its local community and beyond by offering tailored tutoring services designed to meet each child’s unique learning needs, whether they need extra support or want to advance further in their studies. Providing top-notch tutoring in Maths, English, and the Sciences for children aged 3-18, Tecnis’s students not only improve their academic skills with the provider but also build confidence and a genuine love for learning. Tecnis offers a range of outstanding educational solutions, including virtual tutoring, face-to-face tutoring, tutoring designed for children and young persons with Special Educational Needs, and six weeks intensive mathematics tutoring courses. “Parents often tell us how their children become more engaged and motivated, and they see a noticeable improvement in their grades and overall performance,” Tutu tells us. “We pride ourselves on creating a supportive, personalised environment where each child can thrive at their own pace.” When Tutu first launched Tecnis, the organisation operated as a face-to-face tutoring academy. But when the COVID-19 pandemic struck the country, the business was faced with the challenge of transitioning to virtual classes. “The shift wasn’t seamless at first, and there was a period of uncertainty where I wasn’t sure of where to start or what steps to take,” Tutu recalls. “Despite these challenges, I took a gradual approach, reaching out to parents to explain the benefits of virtual learning, especially as we didn’t know how long the lockdown would last.” This pivotal change ultimately became a turning point for Tecnis, leading to significant growth for the company. Today, the academy has developed a seamless system that integrates both virtual and in-person tutoring, providing our students with flexible and effective learning options. In a dynamic market, Tecnis shines for its unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of children through tailored, high quality education. To maintain this continual pursuit of excellence on behalf of its students, Tecnis seeks to employ tutors with extensive experience in working with a wide range of learning challenges, and who are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Through a carefully structured recruitment process, the academy has been consistent in delivering outstanding results that make a lasting, positive impact on the students it serves. Achieving this mission has been a lifelong dream for its Founder, Tutu. “I’ve always been passionate about working with children and helping them unlock their full potential,” she says. “What drives me is watching them grow in confidence, especially as they start to believe in their own abilities and take ownership of their learning. I chose this industry because I’m deeply committed to the power of education to shape a child’s future, and I know that by fostering a growth mindset, I can help them to not only build academic skills but also develop resilience and self-assurance that lasts far beyond the classroom.” There is a significant shortage of special needs schools in Kent, and children with substantial behavioural and learning disabilities are facing difficulties in securing places in mainstream schools. Over the next five years, Tutu tells us that she envisions Tecnis to expand significantly, with the goal of creating a larger, more inclusive centre that will serve the needs of every child with high quality tutoring services. The pure passion and resolve to achieve this mission have earned Tecnis the deserved title of Most Dedicated Virtual Tuition Services 2025 – South East England. “Ultimately, my vision for Tecnis in the next five years is one where every child has access to the highest standard of education and support,” Tutu states. “Through our expansion, partnerships with councils, and continued focus on professional development and technology, I am confident that Tecnis will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children across the United Kingdom. Together, we can create an educational system that is truly inclusive, where every child is given the tools and the support they need to succeed. “At Tecnis, we’re always looking for bright, passionate individuals to join our team. We seek talented educators who are committed to providing exceptional, inclusive education and making a positive impact, especially for students with Special Educational Needs. If you’re dedicated to fostering academic growth and confidence, we’d love to connect with you through [email protected].” Contact: Tutu Aina-Mays Company: Tecnis Academy Web Address: www.tecnisacademy.com Instagram: @tecnis_academy_tutoring Jan25337
