SME News Q1 2025 / 28 Inclusive Enrichment for All Ages Established in 2014, Fundamental Movement Academy worked hard to transform its concept into a reality. Committed to providing access to niche sports – such as free running, gymnastics, and trampolining – Fundamental Movement Academy has created a safe space for children of all ages and abilities. Here we learn more as the institution wins Most Inclusive Sports & Child Development Organisation 2025. Present in multiple established locations, such as Cheltenham, Evesham, and Solihull, Fundamental Movement Academy (FMA) offers its services in three prime locations for children and their families. Also offering its Rainbow Day Care services, FMA’s diverse institution aids children in their development, nourishing them and their families – delivering peace of mind every day. At its core, FMA’s mission is built on the belief that movement is for everyone. Founder Mary Neeld says, “Whether a child is neurodivergent, has a physical disability, or from an underrepresented background, FMA strives to ensure all children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive through physical activity in a fun and safe environment.” Creating a supporting and inclusive environment with diverse educators and role models, FMA is a safe space for children of all ages to express themselves, have fun, and learn together through movement. Its educators are from varied backgrounds in physical education, therapy, and special education. This diverse pool of educators “brings unique perspectives to the academy’s teaching, providing students with role models they can relate to and who understand their needs,” Mary comments. Reaching children and their families to provide the utmost caring and enriching environment, especially with its educators’ experience, FMA continues to teach physical literacy and movement education to all ages and abilities. With their deep understanding of children’s needs, each educator empowers children to explore movement, develop motor skills, and build their confidence levels. Director, Vikki Chinnock adds, “FMA’s facilities are built with accessibility in mind, featuring adaptive equipment and layouts that accommodate a wide range of physical abilities. The team at FMA is also extensively trained in inclusion practices, ensuring that every child feels safe, confident, and respected during their sessions.” Offering its space to hundreds of children, FMA provides high quality classes which ultimately help each individual to journey into their older years with confidence and great movement skills. The dedication demonstrated by FMA helps each child, and the Olympic standard equipment helps the team to provide the best ways for children to learn and grow. Atop all of this, FMA is devoted to elevating the lives of children across its four locations. Providing a hub for birthday parties, baby and toddler activities, disability friendly activities, drone racing and holiday camps, and more, this institution promises – and delivers – excellence, enrichment, and fun for all ages. Furthermore, Vikki tells us, “FMA is committed to expanding access to movement education by partnering with local schools, community centres, and advocacy groups. Through these collaborations, FMA provides outreach programs ensuring that children from all walks of life have access to movement education, no matter their financial situation.” By giving everyone the same chance to flourish, this institution is a standout option for inclusive sports and child development. We are proud to award FMA with the title of Most Inclusive Sports & Child Development Organisation 2025 in our Business Elite Awards 2025, and we’re positive that the entire team will continue to aim high – and achieve great things for the benefit of children and their families. Mary enthuses, “While FMA celebrates this important recognition, the team understands that fostering inclusivity is an ongoing journey. Moving forward, FMA plans to further expand its reach and impact by launching new programs, enhancing staff training, and building partnerships with more organisations dedicated to supporting underrepresented communities.” FMA can excitably announce the location of its fourth Academy in Wythall, Birmingham. Opening in Spring this year, with the hugely popular role play centre and family centred approach. Here’s to the future of Fundamental Movement Academy!
