37 | Q2 2021 May21598 AbraxysGlobal has been trading for 17 years, growing annually throughout. It works in the Exhibition and Events industry predominantly providing compliance leadership and support to its clients worldwide. London has always been a leader in innovative and exciting events, so it has been the company’s main base from the start. AbraxysGlobal’s travels take it from China to Colombia, Australia to the USA and throughout Europe and the Middle East. As a two-generation family business, it prides itself in a team heaped in knowledge, experience, diversity, education, and most importantly, people skills. Join us to find out more about this excellent company as we explore how it earned SME News’ title of London’s Most Trusted Event Planner 2021. Working for some of the world’s largest event organisers on global brand events makes Abraxysl very visible, and accountable, but an ideal platform for promoting its style, ability and skills. It also uses social and business media to spread its message as it pushes the boundaries or delivery every time it begins a new project. The importance is not of just arriving in global territories to work alongside clients, but it enjoys the chance to mentor the local staff where required, to improve their knowledge and experience, and create a positive experience all around. It is a company fortunate to have extremely strong internal staff in its Chiswick office, many of whom have been with the company for over 10 years, and indeed two from the original Abraxys launch team. The skills are varied from degrees in event management, to IT professionals, HR professionals, and multilingual support staff. It also has a large crew of freelance event professionals, made up of floor managers, operation staff and of course, health and safety professionals. All are highly qualified in their fields and with immense levels of onsite experience. When recruiting, Abraxys looks for the mix of education, experience and the essential spark to become a key member of its work family group. The company also relishes its work with its partner charities, especially the Global Angels Foundation, for whom its staff have worked in Kenya and India, providing money, skills and labour to help provide water resources, education and empowerment to women, where it is most needed. Its staff are amazing when it comes to supporting this much needed work. When the pandemic hit, Abraxys had staff onsite in many countries, but most especially Relaunching the Events Industry the massive Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which was stopped during the build phase. The reality that it had to get everyone home and stop all event work onsite was a huge blow to the company and its industry. Like for so many, things had to change dramatically with all staff working from home, its freelancers without work and no live events anywhere. As planners, its work never stopped, as its clients fought hard to change schedules, delay events, and of course try and switch to online events, rather than face-to-face eventing. Despite the industry generating so much revenue for the exchequer, it was also clear it was not going to bounce back at speed in the UK, especially with so many venues being used as COVID testing sites initially, and vaccination sites subsequently. Sadly, many industry colleagues lost their jobs, and many companies had to close. Abraxys survived through robust economic planning, working hard throughout, using the Government Furlough Scheme, and of course, working globally, so it was back working onsite ahead of European planned events. It returned to site in February in SNIEC in Shanghai, using its Hong Kong and Shanghai based staff, supported by its London staff, working night shifts to be on the same time base. Throughout this period, the company stayed positive and used a new mantra: “New awareness, new knowledge, new thinking… the new norm.” Indeed, the future is looking bright for Abraxys, with the most important part in 2021 and heading into 2022 being supporting its clients, in order to propel the industry back to being the exciting, successful and global face-to-face product that it should be. The industry has been hit badly, but the willingness of key people within the events world globally to relaunch or reboot is amazing.
