CEO Neil Cresswell shares, “Differentiation of data centres can be found in many aspects of the design, build, and operations of each facility. However, the quality of operations - the Operational Excellence - is where the truly great data centre providers excel. The difference lies in how we design, build, test, maintain, change, and operate the facility to ensure robust and reliable availability is delivered.” VIRTUS specialises in delivering responsible solutions that benefit its valued customers, colleagues, suppliers, and the environment. The innovative company focuses on meeting the evolving requirements of its customers and the increasing demand to accommodate AIready workloads. VIRTUS strives to support businesses on their digital transformation journey while ensuring that its facilities meet the highest sustainability standards, to align with the company’s goal of being carbon neutral by 2030. Agility resides at the heart of VIRTUS whose aim is to help clients navigate the ever-evolving business landscape with its flexible solutions. All its data centres are designed modularly to allow full flexibility for customers’ IT infrastructure. Whether businesses require a rack, a whole suite, or an entire data centre, VIRTUS’ efficient facility design allows flexible solutions to meet each customer’s unique requirements. Over the past year, VIRTUS has pursued ambitious expansion in new cities and countries to fulfil its vision of becoming Europe’s leading data centre provider. In May 2023, VIRTUS unveiled the Marienpark Campus in Berlin, a new campus in the heart of the city’s technology innovation hub. The data centre campus provides 56MW of IT load across four buildings and is home to emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning (ML), and additive manufacturing. Soon after, VIRTUS revealed plans for a 204MW data centre mega-campus in Wustermark, which will be one of Germany’s and Europe’s largest green data centre campuses. The company’s European portfolio now boasts nearly 560MW of power and space for its valued customers. Neil Cresswell says, “We work closely with customers and design consultants to deliver data centres that are AI ready and environmentally responsible. Only 100% renewable energy is used in our UK facilities, where we have Power Purchase Agreements in place. And in Germany, our Wustermark Berlin campus is located adjacent to the country’s largest onshore wind farm, which will power the data centre facilities. It is because of our flexible and innovative designs that we have already been able to implement an operate industry leading liquid cooling systems at scale, capable of supporting the rising heat levels that AI and HPC bring.” VIRTUS recently unveiled plans to build a cutting-edge data centre campus in Saunderton, Buckinghamshire near to its existing data centre hub in Slough. This strategic endeavour is in response to the evolving needs of AI and will mark a step forward in delivering AI ready, highcapacity data infrastructure. The design will feature four data centres with an IT capacity of 75MW to meet the growing demand for robust data infrastructure. Through this new site, VIRTUS will create skilled jobs, deliver training opportunities to the community, and improve local infrastructure. This announcement is testament to the company’s commitment to the UK market and the evolving requirements of its customers. Since its inception, VIRTUS has consistently exceeded expectations with its innovative services and high-quality solutions. Leveraging the best in state-of-the-art data centre technology, the company delivers sustainable, AI ready data centres to help support businesses on their digital transformation journey.
