We had the pleasure of catching up with Tim Lowell, one of OneTwo’s joint managing directors, to learn more about both the company itself and the team of passionate and dedicated individuals behind it. Founded in the mid-1980s by Ron Glasgow – hence the company’s former name – OneTwo has been operating atop the belief that “experience is everything” for almost 40 years. In the early days, Ron and his team specialised in marketing and PR, but changing times and a desire to evolve led the company to develop into a full-service event delivery and technical production agency. Now into its fifth decade, OneTwo is today an industry leader and one of the premier agencies of its kind across the whole of the UK. A crucial part of the agency’s success over the years is its friendly and approachable team, with their no-fuss attitude making them a joy to work with. Of course, it helps that these individuals are all talented, knowledgeable, and highly experienced in their respective areas, making OneTwo as dependable as it is innovative. Beyond this, a pledge to sustainability and social value sees the agency align with the goals of its clients, bolstering the memorable, results-driven experiences it provides. When describing what it is that sets OneTwo apart in the industry, Tim put it best when he said: “We’re not the loudest in the room - we are the ones quietly getting things done. The power of these joint efforts was seen most recently in an immersive experience the team delivered for the Joint Security and Resilience Centre (part of the Home Office) at the Security & Policing event held earlier this year. Tasked with creating a three-day, live, interactive installation that would bring together real technology and engage everyone from security professionals to international delegations – all whilst telling a compelling story – the team created CityWatch: Streets of Tomorrow. They handled every element of this fully immersive experience set five years in the future, from writing the scripts and casting actors to building a fictional security HQ embedded with the technology of real suppliers. As Tim explained: “The result was a truly immersive, story-led experience that showcased emerging technology through its real-world application in a high-stakes, believable environment.” This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to projects OneTwo has recently completed, with other endeavours including working with the Greater London Authority on People’s Question Time – which it has been doing for more than a decade now – and delivering the CCS (Crown Commercial Service) Live event at Exhibition Centre Liverpool. The latter allowed the company to showcase its sustainable commitment, using recycled materials and local, eco-friendly artists to bring the space to life. With the events landscape continuously evolving, so too is OneTwo, tackling shifts relating to new technologies and a push for greener events head on. This is not to say that the team here are just reactive to industry trends, as they also make a point of spurring them on, staying ahead of the curve by evolving constantly and going the extra mile in the pursuit of perfection for their clients. Since we are now almost halfway through 2025, OneTwo has started to think about the ways in which it will continue to move the needle into 2026 and beyond. These include finding smarter ways to deliver events, investing in the next generation of talent, and reducing its impact on the environment even further. Having also recently secured several multiyear frameworks with some high-profile clients, the future is certainly bright for this, the “best-kept secret in the North”, as many have called it.
