SME News Q4 2025/ 34 Housing Maintenance Contractor of the Year 2025 Effective project management is a crucial element of successful construction, ensuring that projects are delivered before the deadline, on budget, and to the highest level of quality. KBH Haus is one Loughtonlocated company delivering such services, injecting innovation into the construction industry through detailed processes, skilled teams, and an unwavering commitment to quality. We spoke with Chief Financial Officer George Karaargirov below, as KBH Haus is named in the Greater London Enterprise Awards 2025. KBH Haus is a building and construction company delivering expert services to the Greater London area. With specialties in windows, doors, fire safety, planned work, and maintenance, the company provides solutions that range from fire safety compliance to retrofit and general maintenance of buildings and properties in both the private and public sectors. The story of KBH Haus began with humble beginnings, as one man with a van set off to reshape the industry. Having worked as a contractor in the building industry for many years, Kyle Hollyomes had grown tired of slow processes, poor staffing, and delayed client communications. He knew there was a better way of conducting business and, in 2014, purchased his first van to launce KBH Building Services. After more than a decade of service, KBH Building Services has evolved into KBH Haus, a multidisciplinary, diversified contractor that owns and operates two manufacturing plants for timber and UPVC doors and windows, and oversees multiple teams of competent, NVQ trained fitters and installers. Today, it stands as a leading player in the construction industry, with more than 50 team members, 40 vehicles, and 25 independent industry certifications testifying to its expertise. Over the course of its evolution, KBH Haus has always remained true to its ethos of customer care. It believes that the team must approach each property as if it were their own, demonstrating the same level of care and passion as the client or end-user. This belief pushes the KBH Haus team to strive for ongoing improvement, continually learning from their mistakes and enhancing their service delivery to ensure KBH Hause achieves award-winning KPIs and industry-leading levels of service. This attitude extends beyond the team’s client approach, to how it structures its operations. “When we were not happy with the supply of joinery products from third parties, we created our own manufacturing division,” George stated. “When we had to scale up our surveying to reach the client-set goals, we created our own software tools to improve the productivity of our surveyors; when social value became a key factor for added value service delivery, we created a social value division that worked on-the-ground with the communities we were in.” Always striving to remain at the forefront of the industry, KBH Haus keeps a close eye on developments within its sector. The company has observed an increase in the volume of work to be completed, with a simultaneous decrease in the availability of labourers who are both willing and skilled to fulfil these roles. At the same time, it has noted resistance from clients in matching the inflationary costs that are being passed onto them by contractors. This trend has been particularly acute in London, where the cost of living has increased more than that of the rest of England, therefore increasing wages and material costs further. The area balances these challenges, however, with a high volume of construction work available for contractors capable of managing their cost base and delivering their work on budget and on time. In alignment with this emerging shift, KBH Haus is looking to the future with a strategic eye. The company intends to continue with its plans to bring more of its services inhouse and manage their provision with more accuracy and efficacy. In order to achieve this, the team are resuming work on the development of Mi-Haus, its own mobile application and IT infrastructure. Mi-Haus promises to transform how construction teams collaborate and manage projects, providing 360-degree touchpoints for the KBH Haus team. With Mi-Haus, users can create profiles, manage assets, and check upcoming work schedules to stay organised and avoid delays, in addition to ordering onsite materials, completing jobs, and tracking their work progress with ease. With the upcoming launch of Mi-Haus – soon to be available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store – and plans for further research and development in the area of wall insulation, the company will continue to future-proof its leading position in the construction industry. At the core of KBH Haus is a team committed to providing outstanding solutions that shape the future of construction – a commitment that has earned KBH Haus recognition as the Housing Maintenance Contractor of the Year 2025.
