In 2012, Lorna transformed The Boudingait into a successful and multiaward-winning venue that provides guests with a high quality, traditional pub experience. Renowned for its attentive customer service, The Boudingait has built a large clientele of regular customers in addition to drawing in a multitude of hungry and thirsty tourists passing through the historic Fife market town. “Being located in Cupar works well for us,” Lorna tells us. “We are one of the larger towns in the area with many attractions, shops and events here and in the surrounding area. We’re located on the main street, called Bonnygate which was named the Boudingait until 1580, hence our name”. Offering a relaxed, home-away-from-home environment, The Boudingait seats 35 covers and delivers traditional entertainment in the form of board games, live music and weekly pub quizzes. Lorna takes pride in the fact the pub sources ingredients from local providers, serving freshly made food every day alongside an expansive selection of gins, ales, and wines that are as affordable as they are delicious. “Our main goal is to offer a fun and comfortable drinking and dining experience,” says Lorna. “Serving high-quality food and drink at a reasonable price. Our core values are teamwork, quality, and passion. We have no juke box, no gaming machines, and no televisions; just good old Boudingait banter. This sets us apart, as well as being the only pub in Cupar to serve real ales”. In recent years, the hospitality industry has been hit hard by rising costs and the consequences of the global pandemic. Customers are no longer staying for drinks after dining and, as a result, many establishments are shortening their opening times to cut costs. The Boudingait has encountered such challenges, and has had to follow suit, although Lorna tells us that the pub has exciting plans for the future. “We would like to convert one of our cellar spaces into a second kitchen to be able to expand into outside catering, and aim to extend food service times in 2025,” she says. “We would like to increase our entertainment programme and hopefully encourage customers to stay out later and enjoy drinks alongside the entertainment. We have found that in order to encourage and increase evening trade, we have to provide entertainment that entices people from home.” Such forward-thinking is a prime example of why The Boudingait stands out as a leading provider of exceptional customer service. Having built an expansive base of loyal customers, the dog-friendly gastropub has received numerous positive reviews attesting to its brilliance. “The Boudingait is a great place for an evening meal and a drink,” writes Jon. “The food was excellent; the homemade steak and ale pie was the best I’ve had in a long time. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and made you feel really welcome. If you’re in the Cupar area, The Boudingait is a must-visit place.” “I had a wonderful meal at The Boudingait!” says Ivan. “I savoured a delightful bowl of soup, followed by some mouth-watering pasta. The flavours were on point, and the ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience. I highly recommend The Boudingait if you are looking for a great meal in Cupar!” Contact: Lorna Lidderdale Company: The Boudingait Web Address: http://www.theboudingaitcupar.co.uk/ Cupar Gem Scoops Awards Nestled in the heart of Cupar, The Boudingait is a popular and vibrant gastropub, offering a friendly and welcoming experience.
