We find out more about the salon and its unique offering. Having entered the hairdressing industry some 14 years ago, starting a business and owning a salon has always been Axl Stone’s dream. This dream was realised in July 2020 when (mid pandemic) Our House Hair, based in Warminster, was born. “Our House was created with inclusion at the forefront of everything we did,” explains Axl. “Our House is your house, a place to feel comfortable and safe. We are gender neutral, with our pricing structure based on the length of your hair, not your gender, and believe strongly in equality, a no judgement safe space. We celebrate every individual for who they are and welcome everyone who is anyone.” This attitude starts within, and Our House has many wonderful people who make up the talented and dedicated team. “As individuals we are so different, each bringing something different to the table, but our core values and ethos is the same. We support each other, we raise one another up and communicate! Communication is so key and so important to a happy workplace.” When recruiting for new talent, Axl’s requirements are simple – to have amazing hair designers who aren’t afraid to get creative, think outside the box and have fun! Axl also doesn’t see other salon as competitors as, for Axl and the team, it is not what they are all about. Instead, they come to work to do what they do best and enjoy themselves whilst doing it! “Our industry has so many amazing artists and we should be celebrating each other and uplifting one another rather than competing against each other,” Axl elaborates. “We are who we are, each of us are unique in ourselves.” The staff at Our House all have their own individual selling points with certain styles and Most Vibrant Hair Salon – South West have carved out a niche for themselves. For example, Lamb is known for short hair, creative colours and infectious laugh; Gemma is the blonde specialist queen and has a heart of gold; Michelle is the new apprentice and always puts others first; Robyn is a colour encyclopaedia, very talented and with a great laugh; Tash keeps everything ticking behind the scenes and loves to chat; and then there’s Axl, the transformation- loving, big time joker and creator the company! “We’re all just here, working together, doing amazing hair, having a great time and working hard to make sure everyone who walks through our doors leaves feeling the best they have ever felt!” Having only been open just over a year, and with a clear mission to spread love, inclusivity and create a safe space for all, it’s no surprise that Our House Hair was recently bestowed with the well-deserved title of Most Vibrant Hair Salon – South West in the Southern Enterprise Awards 2021. And right now, the future is looking bright for the new business. “We intend to continue working on ourselves and meeting many more new faces. In the future, maybe expansion, but right now we’re just seeing where time takes us. “We just want to thank everyone who has supported us, clients, non-clients, locals and those from afar, we see you.
