Southern Enterprise Awards 2025

Taking a quality-over-quantity approach to its work, The Marigolds is a small business that more than makes up for its size by delivering comprehensive housekeeping and property maintenance services to its choice selection of clients. As Tanya explained: “I provide the full changeover service, as well as property management, maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry.” This, however, merely scratches the surface, as Tanya is also famed for her locally sourced welcome packs which always includes a fresh bunch of locally grown flowers, hand baked goodie bags for guests four legged friends, and – most notably – hampers. Primarily taking the form of welcome packs, The Marigolds’ hampers can be used across the holiday lets it serves, as a present for friends visiting the area, or simply as a gift for a loved one. Comprising goods and items from local businesses also supports the community from which they came. Special editions are available for Easter or Christmas, and vegetarian, vegan, and more customised hampers can be produced on request. Flexing its Cornish muscles further, The Marigolds’ dedication to the local area can be seen through the seasonal flowers it displays across its holiday homes, as well as it offering bespoke toiletries from two companies based in Cornwall. This may only be a little something, but it sees that guests feel more welcome as they step inside their temporary home, and this is something that aligns The Marigolds with the desires of the property owners and holiday let agencies it works with. Alongside the above, The Marigolds’ distinction as a housekeeping and property management company comes from its plastic-free promise, which sees it set the standard for sustainable practice in the area. This is seen in everything from its cleaning products being vegan and ecofriendly to it using only 100% recyclable packaging across its utilities. All sponges, dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods, toilet & kitchen rolls are also plastic free, and Tanya favours refills when it comes to products like hand wash, washing up liquid and toilet cleaner to reduce a holiday home’s waste. “I am a plastic-free champion working very close with Sustainable Penzance and Surfers against Sewage. I am also very proud to finally have achieved my gold plastic-free status and that I am the only housekeeper in the whole of Cornwall to have achieved this. Today, my housekeeping approach is completely plastic free, and I have put in lots of my time and effort in order to achieve this goal.” Tanya continued: “I started the plasticfree process at the end of 2023, continued working towards it throughout 2024, and now I am there. My motivation to have made all those changes is for the benefit of wildlife, nature, and the wider environment. I hope that other housekeepers, property owners, and guests will recognise this and try to change the way they do things as well.” Concerning laundry and linen, both of which are fundamental aspects of a guest’s stay, The Marigolds caters to whatever the owner wants, using their own personal or hired linen. In both cases, Tanya works closely with local businesses to ensure the highest standards are achieved. The same can be said of its property management offering, whereby a diverse network of tradespeople is called on to keep every property in tip-top condition. These experts range from window cleaners, plumbers, electricians, gardeners through to local hot-tub specialists. Across the entirety of this bespoke changeover service, which can be likened to that provided in the finest five-star hotels, the aim is to blend efficiency and reliability with the keen eye for detail possessed by Tanya and her staff. This is something picked up on across the glowing testimonials the company boasts, including one published just last week at time of writing: “Tanya and her team were top quality as always. Everything was clean and well prepared. There was an extensive welcome pack and the fireplace was already stocked.” Professional, friendly, and sustainable to the last detail, The Marigolds have achieved one-of-a-kind status in the area as a result of its tireless efforts concerning meticulous, eco-friendly cleaning and housekeeping services. Finally, The Marigolds does not only restrict itself to holiday accommodation but also has a number of commercial cleaning contracts. One of these was won not only due to The Marigolds’ efficiency but also the company being a plastic free champion. This may lead to expansion in that side of its operation in due course. The future is bright for this company, which is seeking more clients in this area going forward. We wish Tanya all the best with this, recognising the accomplishments of her and the team with a well-earned place in this programme.
