Southern Enterprise Awards 2025

Dr Audrey Tang brings 10 years’ experience as a “Media Guest Expert (Psychology)” and more than 30 years as a drama teacher, community theatre producer, and director. She founded Wellbeing Media Studio after recognising the need for a platform for exceptional and reliable mental health programming that focuses on deep dives into various wellbeing topics. She tells us, “In February 2024, we joined the e360TV network in the USA and produced one mental health show: Mental Health Matters, and an arts and culture show: Skits and Quibbles. Due to the popularity of Mental Health Matters, we retired Skits and Quibbles after a year and now air a double dose of Mental Health – Office Hours, which focuses on workplace wellbeing, and After Hours which is all things mental health and wellness. The shows are gaining over 21k views on e360TV, and the team get regular enquiries from potential guests.” The shows are written and produced by Dr Audrey herself. With the field of wellbeing becoming hugely saturated with influencers and marketing posing as wellness, she has recognised the growing need for real expert involvement in this programming. She is keen to ensure the shows are practitioner-led, by academics and experts, while also showcasing lived experiences and community work to share real stories from real people. Within this, the team recognises that media confidence is something that comes with experience, so, while many academics and community groups are doing incredible things, they may find it out of their comfort zone to speak in front of a camera. Thus, the Wellbeing Media Studio team strives to create a professional, safe, and encouraging space that makes everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Dr Audrey says, “We have had the privilege of guests who have had years of TV experience, as well as those speaking up for the first time. We are all about raising your voice.” Not only has Dr Audrey produced award-winning shows for community radio and an award-winning podcast, as well as two livestreams, but Wellbeing Media Studio also offers support with content creation, media training, and public speaking for interviews and presentations. “We currently work with local charities and professionals on getting their messages out there through podcasts and on our shows,” she states. “We will also spotlight local events and business, creating a video which you can use on your socials and we air on our platforms. We also regularly recommend our experts to the BBC and other journalists requesting comment, as well as to speaker engagements through our contacts. “We have also just had a documentary I produced, directed, and edited about my Peranakan Heritage shortlisted in the ‘Documentaries Without Borders International Film Festival 2026’, and last year our Charity Single raising awareness of the impact of knife crime was selected for screening at the ‘Northampton Film Festival 2025’.” Unlike other platforms, Wellbeing Media Studio does not charge a fee for its services. This is because it recognises the difficulty that comes with gaining media experience. However, Dr Audrey says, “If you would like to make a donation to our charity, CLICK Arts Foundation, which funds grassroots arts projects that build confidence and wellbeing, we would be very grateful.” Ultimately, for Wellbeing Media Studio, it isn’t about being “ahead of the curve”, but it is about doing it right. It is about ensuring solid mental health content in the media. With Dr Audrey regularly featuring as a guest expert herself on the BBC, she devotes the time to ensuring people are being informed and educated. The studio intends to continue as it is, producing high-quality shows, supporting academics and practitioners with their media confidence, and broadcasting in-depth explorations of mental health issues. Dr Audrey concludes with, “We are collaborative, we communicate, we are responsive – and we often joke that every show is like a mental health intervention for us because our guests are so fascinating that I believe our own health and wellbeing has improved tremendously over the last couple of years!” Company name: Wellbeing Media Studio Contact name: Dr Audrey Tang Email: [email protected] Website: www.wellbeingmedia.org Founded in 2023 by Chartered Psychologist and Arts Charity Chair, Dr Audrey Tang, Wellbeing Media Studio is a community media platform delivering high quality mental health programming.
