Abi has been trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and has extensive experience in teaching both classes and 121 sessions. Helen is the newest member of the team. After training at Manchester Metropolitan University, she graduated in 2007 with a BSc (HONS) in physiotherapy. During her early career in the NHS Helen gained valuable experience in a variety of areas, including oncology, orthopaedic surgery, out-patient physiotherapy and rehabilitation. She then moved to a private hospital in the Manchester area, specialising in orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal conditions. At the same time, she worked at a semi-professional rugby club, gaining four years’ valuable experience of sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. For the past few years, Helen has been working in private practice, gaining further experience in sports injuries, post operative orthopaedic surgery, as well as acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems affecting all age groups. Helen is trained in acupuncture, Pilates and other sports massage and taping techniques, such as kinesio taping and sports strapping. All classes are taught by a chartered physiotherapist and certified Pilates instructor so that clients can enjoy a relaxing, beneficial experience in a safe environment. The team teach Pilates as part of the rehabilitation process for conditions such as back pain, shoulder injuries, and knee pain- but it is also great as a general muscle balance exercise regime for those without pain but who wish to improve their general posture/control/sport technique. Injury and pain prevention is a further benefit of the Pilates method. For those who are not sure whether Pilates is a good option, one to one Pilates sessions are available for a personal introduction to the Pilates method, with specific focus on the clients’ own goals. It is recommended that all clients have an initial physiotherapy assessment or a one to one Pilates session first before commencing the classes, to ensure that they get the most out of the classes. Pilates classes are taken in the top floor loft conversion studio, creating an airy and spacious room for focusing on improving those all-important core muscles. Treatment rooms are on both floors, allowing easy access for a range of clients. Overall, Sarah and her team treat a wide range of conditions and adhere to CoActive Physio’s moto: “Acting together to achieve your health and fitness goals” : recovery is a joint effort between therapist and patient and will only be successful if both parties are on board. This moto will remain the practice’s ongoing focus as it looks towards a bright and exciting future. CoActive Physio g
