Crispin and Simon Fuggle are 4th generation funeral directors. Simon Fuggle recently provided us with an overview of the firm and what it meant to have been awarded the accolade Most Caring Funeral Directors 2018 – Kent. care and compassion. We have the expertise and total flexibility to provide what the client wants. If wanted we can find a location, vehicles and whatever else the client wants to make their loved ones’ funeral individual and special to them. For us it is the attention to detail that matters and that can make all the difference on the day of the funeral. For us the funeral is about the family, not us, ‘simple but dignified’ is often the mantra. We belong to two trade associations, Nafd (National association of funeral directors) and Saif (Society of allied and independent funeral directors) to give people, if needed, the confidence that we meet their high standards. We are delighted to have won this award as it recognizes the hard work and dedication that the whole team at T. W. Fuggle & Son has made over the years to provide our clients with the best service we can offer, whether it be a very simple funeral or very elaborate, traditional or contemporary funeral. In the funeral industry you have to be discrete, it should be rare that you can talk about your success, hard work and investment, so to have this award is extra special. The funeral industry at the moment, as many industries do, is going through a period of change and being able to recognize and embrace that change is very important, as to be able to continue to offer the service one does, one has to be successful, to maintain the investment in the business, both financially and emotionally. In recent years, the three main areas of change have been, firstly the emphasis on pre- paid funerals, which have been available for some time. If you want to use the services of a particular funeral director you need to ask them what plans they offer. Secondly, the internet, which for many is very daunting. You have to have a web site and constantly monitor and adapt it. Thirdly, direct to cremation funerals, where the deceased is taken to the crematorium with no mourners, officiant, nor service. When considering which funeral director to use, if you are financially able you should consider what facilities that funeral director has and their reputation. Personal recommendation is what traditionally the funeral industry has been built upon. We take great pride and comfort when families sadly have to come back and use our services again. As with this award, it validates what we are trying to achieve, providing a caring, personal and professional service. In 1930, T.W. Fuggle & Son was founded by great grandfather, Thomas William Fuggle in the existing grade two listed premises. Over the past 20 years, the brothers have invested heavily in the business to ensure that it offers its clients the best facilities and presentation of its staff, funeral vehicles and premises, which are modern and airy that complement their listed setting. Crispin and Simon’s philosophy is very simple treat people how they wish to be treated, guide them to provide them with what they want and to treat the deceased with the love and care as if they were one of their family.
