Since their inception, Safe Hands has worked with governing bodies, charities and private event organisers to provide their award-winning services at festivals, sporting events and galas. In addition to this, the team also provides multiple training courses in first aid, health and safety and off-road driving to name but a few. When the business started, Robert thought they would be a small scale training provider that would provide services at the occasional event. This idea was turned on its head and meant that Safe Hands had to expand their team early on. With an extensive medical background of his own, Robert wanted to find people that had similar experience, but who also had a passion and a desire to help others. Robert was able to provide full training and mentorship to people who did not have the experience, but who still wanted to be a part of helping people. All staff are trained in drug and alcohol awareness and mental health issues so they are able to cope with a wide range of issues. Today, Safe Hands is able to supply events with a highly experienced team, which is formed of combat medics, paramedics, mountain rescue medics and ski patrol EMTs. The team are the heartbeat of the company, as they are all passionate about helping people and they deliver their services at the highest level. Safe Hands pride themselves on their customer service and have covered multiple events for the same clients. They truly offer a personal touch and try to create long lasting relationships with their clients. Alongside this, the team can sometimes fix a problem before it actually arises, which can help put the client’s mind at rest. Above all, Safe Hands treats everyone with the same level of respect, care and dignity. 2020 was meant to be a great year for Safe Hands, as they were due to double their turnover from 2019, which in itself was their best year to date. However, the Covid-19 pandemic put a wrench in the works. 80% of their business is in providing medical and rescue cover, and from March they saw their bookings vanish overnight. However, Robert and his team have been able to adapt and have definitely made the best out of a bad situation. During these uncertain times , the team have been offering Covid-19 specific training to doctors and other NHS staff, and they have invested in specialised equipment to be able to help out others during the crisis. Safe Hands have also been able to offer bio clean sanitisation to commercial and private clients for either their premises or their vehicles. In addition to this, the team have also been able to offer welfare services in their community so that no-one has been left to struggle. Safe Hands have already begun to receive inquiries about bookings for events in the near future, which is an encouraging sign for the business. They are ensuring that all of their policies are up to date and that their vehicles and equipment are ready to roll when the time comes to get back out in the field. As mentioned, Safe Hands had a number of projects in the pipeline for this year, however the team are hopeful that these plans can now be implemented in 2021 instead. The team are positive about the plan that they have in place, and consider the pandemic as a mere bump in the road for the business. Robert has viewed this time of uncertainty with a positive spin; as a chance to upskill himself and the rest of the team, ensuring that they are taking the right steps towards providing the best service possible for their clients.
