Following the firm’s well-deserved success in the UK Enterprise Awards 2021, we caught up with Mark Mulvihill to find out more. Initially established as a means to provide founder Mark Mulvihill with some additional income during his university studies, P Wave Medical was created with a vision of making a difference to patient care at local events. However, after seeing how some other companies took shortcuts and operated below standard, Mark recognised how important the objectives of P Wave Medical Ltd were to improving patient care. To begin, Mark provides a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into its clientele. “Since August 2017, a lot of hard work has been put in to ensure that we don’t just meet the expectations of our customers or patients, but also exceed them every time. In August, the company turns four years old, and we have continued to grow year on year. Typically, we cover small and large events all over the country and we are trusted by the majority of Town Councils around Kent, who both recommend ourselves, and use ourselves time and time again. With our first aid and pre-hospital care training, it’s not about training the students to the requirement, but more about ensuring they meet the requirement, and are as best prepared as they can be, enabling them to get the most from their time with us”. The management team at P Wave Medical Ltd all have experience of working within the NHS Ambulance Service, and as Mark goes on to explain, their hands-on approach has helped create a family feel within the organisation. “Rather than just sitting in offices, management are happy to support all staff members wherever possible. During the pandemic, we have encountered various challenges but not one member has sat back, everyone has played their part. With healthcare being such a competitive industry to operate in, taking this approach has definitely helped us remain ahead of our closest challengers”. To ensure expectations are met, the firm takes on-board feedback from its customers and students as Mark explains further. “By monitoring the feedback we receive, we are able to further train our staff so they can deliver their roles and better themselves”. Finally, Mark discusses the main benefits of the firm’s location before outlining some of its future plans. “One of the main benefits to being based in Kent is that we can easily access the motorway network to get around the country. Students enjoy coming to Kent, especially the pre-hospital care students as they tend to book a hotel for the duration of their stay, and get to enjoy the seaside. “Moving forward, the next big part of our business plan is to finalise our CQC registration,” Mark continues. “This will enable us to offer more services to meet the needs of our clients, and ensure we are able to continue to recruit the right people as we seek to exceed our customer and patient expectations”.
