UK Enterprise Awards 2021
121 | UK Enterprise Awards 2021 HR Consultancy of the Year 2021 Based in London, with offices in the East Midlands and East Anglia, Petaurum HR was born out of its founders’ passion to provide a jargon-free and effective way to support companies. To start, Adam gives us a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into its clientele. “Petaurum HR began in a Costa Coffee when we were thinking about our company name. Petaurum (Pet-or-um) is Latin for springboard, and this encapsulates what we are about and what we want to achieve, providing all our clients with a springboard to move them towards their business goals. From large-scale transformation and consulting projects to one-off pieces of work for individual clients, we provide the full breadth of HR services. With our largest client possessing 27,000 employees and our smallest containing just one, it’s fair to say we have a varied client base”. Operating in the HR industry can often prove a challenging experience, however as Adam goes on to explain, its expertise and commitment to innovation has enabled the firm to distance itself from the crowd. “In our experience, business owners and directors don’t want bland, generic advice. Naturally then, here at Petaurum HR we specifically tailor to our client’s situation and the outcome they’re looking for. By taking a proactive approach to HR, we are able to create solid foundations which set people up for success. To complement our offerings, our Benefits Cloud platform is another string to our bow which gives employees, members and volunteers the opportunity to make pay cheques go further with hundreds of discounts and special offers”. Since its establishment, teamwork has played an integral role in the firm’s success, so naturally as Adam points out, the team aims to recruit people who are easily able to fit into its internal culture. “When we set up the business just over eight years ago, we made a pledge to ourselves that while working hard, we would have some fun along the way, reward performance and share our success with others. Teamwork is a lot stronger than any of us can be individually, so here at Petaurum HR we seek to work with people whose attitude and values fit with our unique team culture”. Despite the outbreak of COVID-19, the diversification of its Benefits Cloud platform has enabled the firm to prosper during these difficult times, as Adam explains further. “Many clubs, especially sports clubs, have been unable to deliver their core product i.e playing and/ or watching sport. The Benefits Cloud platform provides an opportunity to give something back through the core benefits offered, whilst reinforcing the sense of community at the Club in a virtual way, through the communications news feed and other functionalities”. Finally, Adam discusses the main benefits of the firm’s location before outlining some of its plans for the future. “What we love most about being in the UK is the opportunity to work alongside other fantastic businesses and business owners. They say the British entrepreneurial spirit is alive and kicking, and with businesses still coming to terms with Brexit, not to mention the impact of COVID-19 and multiple lockdowns, there have been more than enough challenges to last us a lifetime. But from what we see, which is only a tiny proportion of the 6m SMEs in the UK, plenty of businesses are not only surviving but thriving. As you’d probably expect from an HR Consultancy, it’s all about the people! “Moving forward, we plan to continue managing our way out of the pandemic while further developing our team with the recruitment of more HR Advisers and hopefully an apprentice. Beyond this, we will continue to support our charity partners through innovation, time and sponsorship”. Company: Petaurum HR Contact: Adam Davey Email:
