UK Enterprise Awards 2021
264 | UK Enterprise Awards 2021 Beauty Salon of the Year - Maidstone Providing treatments to promote health, healing and wellbeing, Hathor Beauty was established with a holistic approach in mind. We speak to Founder, Lynda Green, about how the salon has progressed over the years to become the success it is today. Established for more than a decade, Hathor Beauty is a family run salon which offers a friendly and sociable atmosphere where clients can relax and take advantage of its truly excellent services. In our luxury boutique salon, a team of talented therapists will provide individual care, with comfort being the salon’s main priority. Lynda Green is the salon owner and initially started working in her garage from home in 1999 with just a handful of clients. Following a trip to Egypt, Lynda became fascinated with ancient Egyptology and, in particular, a Goddess called Hathor. She was the embodiment of motherhood and nurturing and was for this reason depicted with the head of a cow, symbolising her maternal and celestial aspect. “Hathor was the goddess of love, joy and beauty,” she explains. “It was then I realised that that was what I wanted my clients to experience - the nurturing, caring and joyfulness of beauty and holistic care.” Although the business has grown since those early days, Lynda still upholds those special core values today and this is reflected in her client’s positive feedback. “Our number one priority is ensuring our customers feel cared for and have total satisfaction in the treatments they receive,” she elaborates, explaining what the salon’s unique selling points are and what it is that truly sets them aside from competitors. “I always say that when anyone new comes into the salon, I want them to leave with a smile and a feeling that they are no longer a stranger. Every single treatment we offer is adapted to suit their individual needs while always being professional in a warm and friendly atmosphere.” Hathor Beauty is a family-run business with Lynda’s daughter, Lucy, having joined the business in 2001 after gaining her NVQ level 3 qualification. Together, the mother/daughter duo worked extremely hard and found they made a great team, bouncing ideas off each other and developing the basis for what the salon would later become. “This relationship has enabled Hathor to develop and grow to the successful salon it is now. Lucy took a step back after having her family but still works one day a week in the salon seeing her clients, some of whom have been coming to us for over twenty years.” More recently, Lynda’s eldest daughter, Clare, has joined the team as Salon Supervisor. With more than 25 years’ experience in customer service, Clare’s dedication and attention to details ensures Hathor’s continued success. Like every beauty salon, Hathor suffered during the enforced Government lockdowns in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Lynda refused to let the situation get her down and, instead, viewed the opportunity as a new beginning. “I saw it as a chance to take a step back, refresh, refocus and move Hathor forward,” she explains. “We are not licking our wounds but instead have taken this moment to introduce a new treatment range and associated products.” During this time, Lynda and the team worked hard to introduce the Eve Taylor Skincare and Facial range of treatments to their repertoire, which fits perfectly in with the salon’s holistic approach of never using artificial colours or fragrances, never testing on animals and only using 100% naturally sourced essential oils. “For every Eve Taylor product sold, the company plants a tree to reduce the impact of climate change and to create a better world, pledging to plant a minimum of 100,000 trees per year. So, you can imagine how excited we are to be part of this commitment and giving our support to such values.” As well as promoting sustainability, Lynda is keen to shine the spotlight on her team of hardworking and dedicated staff members to whom she attributes the success of the salon. Not only does Lynda ensure that all the therapists are fully trained, qualified and kept up to date with their skillset, she also works hard to ensure that the environment and internal culture is upbeat. “A happy team makes a happy workplace and I know this reflects onto our clients coming into Hathor who continually remark on how warm and friendly the salon is. “I have nothing but praise for the team (both past and present) who have contributed to what Hathor is and stands for. Every single one of them have excelled in their work and it has never been just a job to them. I’m extremely proud and want to thank them all for creating an absolute oasis of peace and calm, placing the utmost importance on wellbeing for everyone that visits.” Contact: Lynda Green Company: Hathor Beauty Web Address: www.hathorbeauty.expert Apr21638
