Having grown steadily since its inception, the firm now has a workforce of around 20 staff based in their offices in Solihull, Birmingham. Here, David takes a moment to explain the company’s core ethos. “Our core company values are centred around safety, respect, responsiveness, creativity, integrity, initiative, and teamwork. These are the firm’s fundamental beliefs that help to guide and inspire us, as well as to shape our behaviour and form our company culture.” Hobday Solutions main area of expertise lies is in the electrical, civil engineering, and audio visual sectors, and its clients are primarily from the commercial, industrial and public sectors (such as NHS Trusts), with work being contracted and gained via the tender process. “Our niche is to offer a one-stop, in-house service, which means we can complete all aspects of given construction projects,” elaborates David, speaking of what it is that sets the firm aside from its competitors and gives it the edge. “We have extensive knowledge and experience in the industrial and commercial sectors, across all disciplines.” As one of the core values on which the firm is hinged, teamwork plays an integral part in the success of Hobday Solutions, with the family-run element meaning that team spirit and moral are kept high, to ensure employees are happy with their work. The dedication and commitment of the team doesn’t go unnoticed, and David is quick to sing their praises. “Hobday Solutions Ltd believes its employees are its greatest asset in delivering an exceptionally high standard of work,” he enthuses. “When recruiting, we look for employees with a diverse and can-do attitude.” As with most businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic meant there was some interruption and a change to the way Hobday Solutions operates and its usual working schedules. During lockdown, the company began reactive works to set up testing stations across the Birmingham Community Trust and welfare units for medical staff, as well as managing to complete lighting upgrades in various health centres due to them being closed and empty, meaning it was an ideal time for the firm to access them. There were, however, many challenges along the way which remain to this day. “Supply of materials and equipment is proving to be a challenge, currently,” David say. “But 2021 will hopefully be safe, well and productive.
