It has recently developed a new website, with a new digital toolkit that can be downloaded for free. Unlike decades ago, mental health training is becoming standard practise across the business world, as management and employees work to better understand and support one another. With many tools and programmes on the market, i-act exists to change the narrative with a focus on workplace issues and a new, highly effective approach. i-act is the UK’s leading evidence based mental health and wellbeing programme, providing a myriad of tools and information for promoting positive workplace wellbeing. Accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, i-act offers specialist mental health and wellbeing training for Managers and a course for employees and frontline workers. The tools of the i-act model were first developed in 2016 and have been adopted by many organisations across the UK – they can also be delivered anywhere in the world. Differentiating itself from other, similar, programmes due to its focus on workplace issues and encouraging a more proactive and preventative approach, encouraging participants of the programme to promote and encourage positive wellbeing and resilience, to cut down on the need for intervention. The spelling of i-act is purposeful, representing the different parts of the plan; to improve wellbeing, advocate and access help and support, connect and communicate, and take tools and advice – all summarised with the specific aims of the programme. Aiming to give participants a greater understanding of mental health and wellbeing issues alongside help to recognise when individuals may need further help and support. In addition, there is instruction on how to offer guidance and advice on connecting with colleagues who may be experiencing a mental health or wellbeing issue. Beyond the three-and-a-half-hour online instructor lead sessions, or the one-day face-to-face course, participants are provided with a resource pack, toolkit, online resources, digital toolkit and further signposting to further help and support. The key success of the i-act model is being able to provide a proactive focus on keeping well and creating a healthy working environment as well as providing a ‘first-response’ approach to supporting someone in distress.
