After almost 60 years in the area, longstanding family-run firm, Wrights Estate Agents (Wrights) is still going strong and leading the way when it comes to property sales. We speak to Stuart Wright, the secondgeneration owner of the business, as it celebrates success in the UK Enterprise Awards 2024. Best Local Residential Estate Agency 2024 - Shropshire Hills Established in 1972 in Church Stretton, Wrights Estate Agents was founded by Bill Wright who moved to the Shropshire market town in 1966 with his wife and family. Having decided to stay in Church Stretton, Bill recognised the need for an additional insurance broker and building society agency in the area and this progressed to him establishing the combined insurance and building society for Abbey National. After meeting other like-minded colleagues, it was then that an estate agency division was also created within the business. Bill's son, Stuart, had not long left college and, after training at Russell, Baldwin and Bright Estate Agents in Herefordshire, he joined his father as the business had taken off so well. In the 90s, Stuart, by then registered as a sole trader, concentrated on the estate agency business and building society agency business, following the sale of the insurance broking business to another local broker. Today, Wrights Estate Agents is the only building society agency in the town and it can assist home buyers with finance and mortgage funding options, too. The firm’s clients are obviously not the only local inhabitants of the town, but also potential customers wishing to move to the area. Concentrating solely on Church Stretton and the surrounding villages, the firm’s extensive local knowledge is not only outstanding, but it also provides buyers with the confidence that the area perfectly suits their requirements. “The success of Wrights Estate Agents is due to the personal and tailored approach, as well as the professionalism given by the dedicated team,” explains Stuart who, in 2010 was privileged to be accepted by the Yorkshire Building Society as an agent. “This agency has now grown from strength to strength as the other banks that were in Church Stretton all closed within a few years of each other.” Wrights launched a new and updated website recently to enable better visibility of the firm’s products and its services, with easy access to the website property portals. The team members at Wrights have also developed new skills in photography, meaning the agency now offers the opportunity for sellers to use drone photography (subject to rules and regulations) in order to get a more comprehensive view of their property and to help it appeal to potential buyers. Recently, for its dedication to its clientele, plus its long-standing reputation for excellence in the area, Wrights Estate Agents received notable recognition in the UK Enterprise Awards, being bestowed with the prestigious accolade of Best Local Residential Estate Agency 2024 - Shropshire Hills. Now, the future is looking ever brighter for the firm. Since the diverse issues which occurred during the Covid -19 pandemic, Wrights has found that there was, and still is, an increase in buyers looking to move from larger cities and towns to smaller, more rural communities. The idea that people can work from home and perhaps just visit their offices in other parts of the UK occasionally has brought younger buyers to the area, which in the longer term will help support schools and local businesses. A final word from Stuart confirms that company is very much here to stay. “The team at Wrights Estate Agents all live within a few miles away,” he states. “They are dedicated and enjoy their roles, whether escorting clients around properties, preparing sales details with photography, floor plans, and more. We hope to continue to provide exceptional service to our clients for many more years to come.” Contact: Stuart Wright Company: Wrights Estate Agents Web Address: www.wrightschurchstretton.uk
