Over the years, the business has focused on CDM compliance – particularly with regards to principal designers, an essential cog for seamless operations – to ensure that each project runs smoothly. As the principal designer is in direct contact with all other duty holders, such as clients, principal contractors, and other contractors and designers, CDM Plus zooms in on this specific role to complete design risk assessments and ensure all regulations and laws are adhered to. Managing Director and Principal Consultant Jim Green told us: “Competency is established and key documents are compiled and reviewed for pre-construction and construction. Also, oversight is in place regarding the installation and commissioning phase leading to final testing and the handover to asset management or a buyer.” The company’s core values have been set in stone since its inception. With professionalism, respect for clients and third party organisations, and true diligence in each application, CDM Plus ensures that it takes responsibility for each step of the way. From guaranteeing deliverables in a timely manner to meeting standards and budgets, CDM Plus has earned a bright reputation for itself. With its outlook on the industry, progressive and collaborative mindset and approach, and dedication to seamless outcomes, the business has steadily become the go-to partner for construction projects near and far. From its local area to overseas, CDM Plus covers a wide range of services which fully support developments in the realm of renewable energy. Of course, collaboration is something that CDM Plus holds at its core to ensure that it is listening to those who need its expertise and services to succeed. Jim commented: “We embrace AI and sponsor several renewable initiatives with the University of Glasgow (UoG). For example, we support intern sponsorship and UG Racing (School of Engineering) for driverless, electric, and clean combustion cars, the Adam Smith Economic Society sponsors of the Sustainability Business Competition, and the Adam Smith Business School sponsors of the Green Prize.” Furthermore, heavily involved with recent developments for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), CDM Plus has an ongoing connection with a major client, AUREKA Energy. This partnership is set to be fruitful for the years ahead as CDM Plus unites its partner with the CDM and HSE services it provides to back each energy project at hand. Jim added: “We have been highly involved in recent years with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) where projects were taken from concept through design, Contracting, construction. operation and sale. Part of this support was to consult with the National Fire Chiefs Council to take part in the consultation to produce the BESS Guidance document 2014. This required the production of a Fire Strategy and Fire Management Plan in consultation with the National Fire and Rescue Service as well as working with the Local Fire and Rescue Services and Local Authorities.” With the ability to work on a global scale, CDM Plus has helped the industry to reduce health and safety risks by nearly 50% sweeping across its application of health and safety risk assessments and more. Jim said: “If other known factors such as Lessons Learned, Local Security, Traffic, Environmental, and Political factors which can be detailed and mitigated in the Pre-Construction Information Plan and reflected in the Principal Contractors Construction Phase Plan then risk can be further reduced.” CDM Plus Ltd is a Glasgow-based CDM (Construction Design and Management) company with so much on offer for its clients.
