SME News UK Enterprise Awards 2025/ 34 Electrical Contractor of the Year 2025 – West Yorkshire Based on the outskirts of Leeds and Wakefield in West Yorkshire, Farrington Electrical Limited is a family-run electrical contractor specialising in commercial and industrial jobs throughout the UK. Whether it is working at a factory, with a building service company, or for a variety of SME businesses, this contractor promises to deliver a high-value service that covers the full electrical scope, with all its of work being backed up by warranties and certified to the highest standards. We caught up with Director Jamie Kirk to find out more about what sets his rapidly growing company apart. From solar panels and battery storage to commercial/industrial Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), cable and EV charging point installations, and full electrical refurbishments, Farrington Electrical strives to make electrical installations safer and more efficient for businesses across the UK. Accredited by leading regulatory bodies such as Constructionline and MCS, the company’s expertise translates into a commitment to go the extra mile and lead the industry in terms of both quality and customer service. The company’s team embody a passion for their work on a daily basis, and guided by such core values as innovation, sustainability, and the relentless pursuit of excellence, they aim for nothing short of the gold standard across every project they undertake. Going one step further, it is not only the lives of its clients that Farrington Electrical aims to impact, it is those of everyone on our planet. This is seen through its comprehensive sustainable energy services, which cover everything from solar panels to battery storage. With sustainable energy (especially renewables like solar and wind) having become the preferred choice for solutions within this industry, the company is more than doing its bit to support clients as they make this transition. Just one example of this is its work under PPA agreements. These agreements are becoming increasingly popular in the commercial and industrial markets, as they allow businesses to get the most value out of these systems, as they are fitted with zero upfront cost to the business. PPA agreements only scratch the surface when it comes to renewables, and another example of how these solutions are becoming widely adopted can be seen through electric vehicles. Companies of all shapes and sizes are electrifying their fleets, and companies like Farrington Electrical are being tasked with bolstering the infrastructure of EV charging in both business and industrial settings, working towards the ultimate aim of seeing that the correct amount of chargers are available for the number of electric vehicles on UK roads. Shifts such as these are just the beginning, and with new technologies being introduced on a weekly basis within the industry, it is necessary for Farrington Electrical to remain vigilant and ahead of the curve. Jamie and the team here are determined not to get left behind, and that is why they continue to work tirelessly to move the needle. The industry has certainly began to take notice, with Jamie delighted to announce that the company is close to signing the paperwork on what will be its second-biggest project to date – a huge cable installation project in the Northamptonshire town of Corby. This undertaking is set to define the latter half of 2025 for Farrington Electrical, which is also continuing to expand its reach and work in close collaboration with established main contractors across this space. Moreover, the announcement of this job comes on the heels of Jamie and co. nearing completion on what is currently their single biggest project so far, as well as being invited to work with a local factory on a more permanent basis – becoming its go-to electrical contractor for jobs both big and small. These are especially exciting times for Jamie, who told us us that many of these pipeline projects are what he initially wanted to build his company around when it first opened its doors five years ago. Although the journey to this point has not always been easy – policy changes and tweaks to benefit in kind (BiK) have left a sour taste in the mouths of many – Farrington Electrical’s drive to stay atop of these shifts helps set it apart and make it a trusted partner for UK businesses. Recognised as the Electrical Contractor of the Year 2025 – West Yorkshire in this programme as a result of its industrial and commercial services – its second consecutive year being featured – Farrington Electrical Limited stands as a testament to the staying power of quality and sustainability in this ever-evolving sector.
