UK Transport Awards 2021
31 | Transport Awards 2021 Max Logistics Ltd is a South Wales goods transportation and warehousing company that knows the road haulage industry well. Dedicated to delivering timely and professional services to clients across Wales and beyond, Max Logistics boasts personal, conscientious customer service that is unmatched in the transportation and warehousing industry. Established in 2009 in Tredegar, South Wales, Max Logistics is a family-run business that utilises a lifetime of experience in the goods transportation industry to move, store and deliver goods and products to major retail Distribution Centres (DCs). Founded by Tim and Leanne Phillips, and affectionately named after their young son who is already to keen to take up responsibility in the team, Max Logistics is dedicated to exceptional and innovative customer service, delivered with true value for money. Initially, Max Logistics worked for just one large manufacturer of the Tredegar area, before it saw growth in business that enabled the expansion of its client base. Acquiring work with more large manufacturers across South Wales, many of whom continue to rely on Max Logistics today, the firm continued to grow from strength to strength as its reputation for timely and professional deliveries expanded. As its premier function is delivering to DCs across the UK and Europe, Max Logistics knows how detrimental delays can be to supply chains and operations, and therefore guarantees superior and reliable time management in its services. However, the road haulage industry has not avoided the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and, just as in so many other industries, businesses within it have had to adapt fast. Max Logistics implemented new procedures so that the team could continue operating throughout the pandemic, enabling them to deal with limited roadside facilities and other challenges to their jobs delivering and collecting. The familial nature of Max Logistics has made it easy to overcome these obstacles and more, helped also by the support and recognition of Best International Transport & Warehousing Company - Wales the general public for workforces like that at Max Logistics, who have continued to keep Wales and the UK moving throughout the pandemic. Tim and Leanne value their team highly, and Tim regularly ‘takes the wheel’ in a literal sense, providing support to the team of drivers when necessary so that as an organisation, Max Logistics can deliver consistent service to customers, no matter what adversity may arise. The personal, customer-centric service that Max Logistics delivers to its clients is hard to achieve for larger organisations. Being a smaller business means that Tim and Leanne can take a hands- on approach to every aspect of their business, including the building and maintenance of client relationships. They prioritise open and honest rapport with clients, a mutual respect, and a proactivity that ensures productivity and efficient problem-solving when situations inevitably do go wrong on occasion. As the road haulage industry evolves, Max Logistics is similarly developing. Tim and Leanne have seen how clients are moving away from dedicated transport providers that were the favoured option when Max Logistics was established, towards systems that open up a business’ transport functions to all. This has its advantages and disadvantages, from the opportunities it creates for SMEs like Max Logistics in securing work with larger companies to the logistical challenges of working alongside other transport companies on the same projects. However, Max Logistics continues to look ahead with optimism, striving to act on all opportunities that appear for the firm. For instance, Tim and Leanne are currently exploring the smaller storage requirements of many of their clients and offering space within its large facility to support microbusinesses with these smaller requirements. With the facility’s fully equipped capabilities that includes forklifts and plant machinery, Max Logistics is able to cater to the many and diverse needs of its clients. Much of its investment will continue to go into its facility’s capabilities so that Max Logistics can continue to deliver on its promise to provide the very best in customer service to clients of the road haulage industry.
