As part of our overview of a selection of the winners of this years’ Yorkshire & Humber Enterprise Awards we profiled the practice and Vanessa to explore the secrets behind her success. With more than two decades worth of experience in the industry, Vanessa is well placed to provide effective therapy, and by creating Cathedral Osteopaths she has been able to support a wide range of patients and put her talents to good use. She has over 20 years’ experience in Manual Therapy and specialises in helping cyclists who have been struggling with a lower back problem for over a year. She helps them out of pain and resolves areas of weakness giving them the strength and confidence to take on new challenges. Prior to qualifying as an osteopath Vanessa worked for 9 years as a sports massage therapist and during part of her training she worked with the London Broncos rugby super league team. In addition, she worked privately for a number of VIPs in Central and West London whilst based at Champneys Health Club in Central London. Vanessa relocated to North Yorkshire in 2008 from the South-east, she opened Cathedral Osteopaths in Ripon in December 2013. She has experience working with amateur triathletes, runners, cyclists, strongmen, footballers, dancers, squash and hockey players. Her post-graduate studies since have included courses with the Sutherland Cranial College and Dry Needling (otherwise known as Western Acupuncture). She has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic and Clinical Education and worked at Leeds Metropolitan University between 2012 and 2014 as a clinical supervisor on the Integrated Osteopathic Master’s Degree. She is a also registered Osteopath, and as such patients know they are in safe hands when they visit Vanessa. Thanks to this vast experience and her numerous qualifications, Vanessa is able to offer her patients the very highest possible standards of support that they can rely on. She provides treatments for back pain to a variety of people from all walks of life and with varying issues which need treatment, including trapped nerves, sporting injuries and chronic pain. As its name suggests, Cathedral Osteopaths is located opposite the main entrance of Ripon cathedral. There is no parking directly outside the clinic but there is free off-street parking behind the Cathedral on High Saint Agnesgate and Low Saint Agnesgate. There is also a pay and display car park on Victoria Grove behind Sainsburys supermarket which is just a 2-minute walk through a snicket leading towards the Cathedral. As such, clients can easily access the clinic via car, and its central location makes it perfect for those who wish to fit their appointment around their busy schedules. Ultimately, Cathedral Osteopaths mission is to get 2000 people out of pain, strengthened and in optimum condition to become confidently active and able to get the most of out their lives.
