Bringing these timeless techniques to modern-day Rugeley, Vikki-Harrison Edwards was compelled to become an acupuncturist after seeing the results first-hand. Following her dual recognition in the Midlands Enterprise Awards 2026, we caught up with Vikki for more on her story and the wide range of services she offers at her home clinic, Chameleon Acupuncture & Wellness. Vikki’s journey into acupuncture stems from the transformative experience it has had on her own life. Having had osteoarthritis in her knees since she was a teenager, Vikki has experienced everything from joint pain and stiffness to joint locking and instability. A cocktail of prescribed painkillers and an operation left Vikki unable to do the things she enjoyed, including exercise or going to festivals and gigs. Tired of feeling like a zombie, Vikki knew something had to change. Her consultant had long told Vikki to strengthen the muscles around her knee, in an attempt to help keep the joint more stable, but it felt impossible because of the pain. Acupuncture changed all that, and despite her initial scepticism, Vikki was soon able to go and train at the gym. She has continued at the gym since discovering acupuncture, and is delighted to have trained throughout both of her pregnancies and even completed a 10km urban obstacle course, things that once seemed impossible. A complete acupuncture convert, Vikki has since had treatments relating to migraines and the aches and pains caused by training. Her love of the holistic approach acupuncture has when it comes to managing wellness and supporting wellbeing led Vikki to create Chameleon Acupuncture & Wellness, a holistic health clinic based in Rugeley, Staffordshire. Vikki built the clinic from the ground up in her garage, which today serves as a fully equipped treatment space and houses a variety of treatments. Vikki specialises in traditional Chinese acupuncture, which can help with everything from chronic pain and musculoskeletal issues to digestive health, hay fever, sleep, and fertility support. Alongside this core acupuncture, she also offers facial revitalisation acupuncture, LED light therapy, auricular ear candling, and myofascial taping. Sports massage is set to follow upon Vikki’s completion of her level 4 qualification, and Vikki is also a Weleda Holistic Esthetician, as well as running her own ear seed business, Chamilidots. Coming from an ecologist background, Vikki knows nothing in nature exists in isolation, and this is also true of the body. This, combined with her own experiences with chronic pain, mean Vikki knows how to get the best results for her clients, who are a real mix of people united by the desire for care that treats them as a whole person, as opposed to simply managing a set of isolated symptoms. “Clients come back, and refer others, because they feel properly listened to, given practical tools they can use at home, and treated as an individual.” With more people than ever turning to acupuncture for pain management (the acupuncture market in the UK is expected to reach £6 billion by 2035), Vikki stressed the importance of customers doing their research before they go and see somebody. She explained: “Because the wider field isn’t statutorily regulated, it’s down to the client to ask what training a practitioner has and who awarded it.” As a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council with more than 3,600 study hours under her belt, having trained at York’s Northern College of Acupuncture, Vikki has the knowledge and level of skill necessary to advocate for better regulation in this space. Her commitment to continuing to learn and expand what she can offer her clients is what sets Vikki and Chameleon Acupuncture & Wellness apart, and the rest of 2026 is no different, with a number of specialist qualifications currently being worked towards. From her aforementioned sports massage training to CPD in Gua sha, distal acupuncture for pain management, and a diploma in advanced fertility acupuncture, the purpose of these learnings is not to add something separate onto her business, bur rather to weave each skill directly into her existing treatment approach.
