Midlands Enterprise Awards 2026

BESTuition began with Amando Brown, who started his career in the police force in 1994. In March 1998, however, Amando’s life was changed forever when he was involved in a vehicle accident whilst stationary on his motorbike. This fateful event resulted in multiple serious injuries that required Amando to undergo countless operations over the following four years. Where many would allow such circumstances to be a setback, Amando saw it as an opportunity to begin a new chapter of his life. He completed an art degree with the support of his wife, despite suffering severe memory loss and deteriorating eyesight. And that is not all; defying medical advice, and all the odds, Amando qualified as a teacher in 2007 and began teaching Art and Design to secondary and sixth form students. This decision gave Amando an entirely new perspective; he discovered that he could easily connect with students who had additional needs. With this natural ability and a newfound passion, Amando established BESTuition in 2014. He began by supporting two teenage siblings needing additional support, one of whom went on to complete a degree in veterinary nursing, whilst the other continues to engage with BESTuition today. Today, BESTuition stands as a respected provider of tailored educational support. Its main offering lies in the core subjects of mathematics, English, and science, with additional support offered in various subjects like art, history, and music. The company’s expertise spans GCSE, Functional Skills, and ASDAN, delivered on a part-time or full-time basis through both one-to-one and small group sessions of up to no more than four children. At BESTuition, every lesson is tailored to meet the needs of the individual student, based on information obtained through assessments, past records, and their current circumstances. The company deploys bespoke learning strategies to ensure that every student is progressing in their educational pathway, continually adapting these strategies in alignment with the student’s specific learning needs. This approach is driven by BESTuition’s core belief that teaching should be child-centred and reflexive. By collapsing the correct curriculum and building it around the individual learner, the company makes it possible for the student to engage with their learning in a way that meets both their individual needs and personal interests. Some students may require visuals, some need play space, and others might require self-reflective lessons. Beyond the classroom, BESTuition provides support to children and their guardians to ensure sustained improvements. With an onsite Educational Psychologist, BESTuition helps parents and carers to understand the emotional challenges that their children may be facing within education. Guardians are encouraged to work in partnership with the BESTuition team to ensure that learning is seamless and sustainable, with regular feedback to allow for the best possible outcomes. For this exceptional, child-centred approach to education, BESTuition has been recognised as the Best Therapeutic Education Support Provider 2026. Now, BESTuition is building onto this momentum through growth and evolution, on a mission to better meet the needs of underserved learners across the UK. In the further future, the team plans to expand BESTuition into other countries around the world, whilst continuing to develop its teaching styles and learning approaches to support children of all ages and abilities. “There is a lot more to come, still keeping education at the centre of what we do,” Amando concluded. “Our long-term strategy is to ensure that all students within our reach receive education that is personal to them. We would like the education system as a whole to be reflective in the way it is delivered, covering the learning requirements of all students regardless of their background or needs. Whilst this sounds like an impossible task, there are strategies that can be implemented to make this happen.” We at SME News Magazine wish BESTuition the best of luck with this endeavour, and cannot wait to see what Amando and his team will go on to achieve.
