Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025/ 4 In an industry where science and artistry meet, few individuals embody visionary leadership quite like Arthur Gill, Founder of Gill Pharmaceuticals. From his base in North Wales, Arthur has redefined what it means to merge pharmaceutical innovation with aesthetic excellence. Through his relentless pursuit of ethical science and regenerative advancement, he has built one of the most dynamic companies in the sector — and the results speak for themselves. Today, under Arthur’s leadership, Gill Pharmaceuticals has become synonymous with trust, innovation, and results. Its flagship product, ICONA H8, has officially been named Best New Pharmaceutical Aesthetics Product 2025, marking a milestone not only for the company but for the UK aesthetics industry as a whole. Rapidly emerging as the fastestgrowing aesthetic brand in the UK, ICONA H8 represents the perfect fusion of biotechnology and artistry — a product that is transforming how practitioners and patients experience skin rejuvenation. From Welsh Innovation to Global Recognition Founded just over three years ago, Gill Pharmaceuticals began as Arthur’s bold vision to bring scientific integrity back into aesthetic medicine. Having spent years working across pharmaceuticals, clinical development, and medical technology, Arthur saw a clear gap in the global market: the need for products that were scientifically rigorous, ethically produced, and clinically effective. “My goal has always been simple — to make aesthetic science honest, ethical, and effective,” Arthur explains. “ICONA represents the future of regenerative medicine, where every innovation serves both beauty and biology.” Driven by that mission, Arthur developed the ICONA® range, now recognised as a benchmark in modern skin science. The line blends clinical-grade biotechnology with aesthetic precision, producing formulas that enhance natural beauty while maintaining the highest safety and sustainability standards. The Science Behind ICONA H8 At the heart of Gill Pharmaceuticals’ success lies Arthur’s proprietary innovation — A.R.T. Technology™ (Advanced Regenerative Technology). This scientific platform, exclusive to the ICONA range, brings together ultrapure hyaluronic acid, amino acids and vitamin C to deliver long-lasting hydration, collagen stimulation, and visible skin renewal. ICONA H8 is more than a skin booster; it’s a scientifically structured collagen stimulator and bio-revitaliser designed to promote true dermal regeneration. Its intelligent formulation optimises pH, ionic balance, and osmolarity, enhancing cellular uptake and intradermal retention. This leads to prolonged, natural results that go far beyond surface hydration — visibly improving elasticity, texture, and tone. “This technology allows ICONA H8 to go beyond hydration, actively stimulating collagen production and improving elasticity, texture, and overall skin quality with visible, sustained results,” Arthur notes. ICONA H8 is wholly owned, and developed by Gill Pharmaceuticals — making it one of the few British-born products to maintain complete control from formulation through to distribution. Safety, Integrity, and Responsibility Gill Pharmaceuticals’ pioneering approach extends beyond innovation into safety and data-driven accountability. The company operates the first and only full Post-Market Surveillance (PMS) system in the UK injectables sector — a real-time feedback network that continuously monitors product performance and practitioner outcomes. This unique commitment to transparency allows the company to evolve its formulas based on real-world data, ensuring every batch of ICONA products meets the highest clinical standards. “Safety, performance, and practitioner confidence are non-negotiable,” Arthur affirms. “We lead the sector in real-world data collection — not because regulations demand it, but because our patients and practitioners deserve it.” Sustainable, Ethical, and Welsh by Design Every ICONA product embodies Arthur’s ethical vision — one that balances cuttingedge science with environmental and social Best New Pharmaceutical Aesthetics Product 2025: ICONA H8 Arthur Gill the visionary Founder Transforming the Future of Aesthetics Gill Pharmaceuticals’ ICONA H8 – The UK’s Fastest-Growing Brand in Regenerative Science
responsibility. Each unit is distributed through You Can Pharmacy in Cardiff, the company’s trusted Welsh partner for nationwide logistics and practitioner training. Every box is fully recyclable, and every formula is 100% vegan, sterile, and free from silicones, animal derivatives, and synthetic dyes. “I’m proud to have built a Welsh-born company that delivers a genuinely unique aesthetic product,” says Arthur. “I developed ICONA with my team from the ground up, and we own it outright. We support it with rigorous safety monitoring and a commitment to ethical, science-led innovation that proves Wales can compete — and lead — on the global stage.” This partnership with You Can Pharmacy has helped position Wales as a rising leader in regenerative aesthetics, strengthening both regional innovation and the national economy. The Visionary Behind the Brand Arthur Gill’s influence extends well beyond product innovation. Known for his hands-on leadership and unwavering ethical compass, he is widely regarded as a pioneer in pharmaceutical aesthetics worldwide. His career has spanned research, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and entrepreneurship — each stage shaping the scientific and moral framework behind Gill Pharmaceuticals’ success. A dedicated mentor and advocate for excellence, Arthur actively supports the next generation of medical professionals, promoting training, safety, and responsible practice within the aesthetics field. His work has inspired a growing movement that prioritises transparency and patient wellbeing over commercial gain. “True innovation isn’t just about creating products; it’s about creating trust,” he reflects. “Every formula we develop carries a promise — that science and ethics can coexist, and that beauty can be advanced without compromise.” Global Expansion and Future Growth Under Arthur’s direction, Gill Pharmaceuticals holds CE and MHRA compliance, national distribution agreement, and an ambitious roadmap for global expansion. Plans are under way to establish a dedicated manufacturing facility in Wales, reinforcing the company’s commitment to local industry while scaling its international reach. With new formulations for ICONA on the way — including specialised regenerative solutions for the face, body, eyes, and hair — the company is poised to expand across Europe, and the Middle East. “Our goal is to make ICONA a global standard for ethical regenerative aesthetics — a brand born in Wales, trusted everywhere,” Arthur explains. The Future of Ethical Aesthetic Science The recognition of ICONA H8 as Best New Pharmaceutical Aesthetics Product 2025 is more than an award — it is a validation of Arthur Gill’s vision, integrity, and innovation. It cements Gill Pharmaceuticals’ place as a true leader in nextgeneration aesthetics, setting new benchmarks for transparency, safety, and performance. As the company looks to 2026 and beyond, its mission remains clear: to redefine beauty through ethical biotechnology, empowering practitioners and patients alike to experience regeneration in its purest form. “We are proud to lead from Wales,” Arthur concludes. “Our technology, our ethics, and our passion define us. ICONA H8 is more than a product — it’s a statement of what’s possible when science, integrity, and vision align.” Contact: Arthur Gill Company: Gill Pharmaceuticals Website: https://iconauk.com
Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025/ 6 Best Cat Boarding Centre 2025 - North Wales & Pet Care Excellence Award 2025 Wrexham-based Bwlchgwyn Cattery was established in 2004 with the aim of giving cats a good home whilst their owners were on holiday or unable to look after them through ill health. We find out more about the Cattery and its guiding ethos from Owner Gemma Allen as the company triumphs in the Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025 and clinches two prestigious titles. Very much a family-run business, Bwlchgwyn cattery is located out in the countryside in a secluded spot with impressive views of the hills. The surrounding area is peaceful and away from main roads making this delightful location the first choice of many clients, who travel great distances, including Glasgow and London, to ensure their beloved pets enjoy a stay in an idyllic, rural environment. Co-Founder Gemma Allen understands what it’s like to have a pet housed elsewhere while you are on holiday, and felt it was of utmost importance that cats in her care were treated to a little luxury, as well as in a way that fitted their nature. Her semi-outdoor cattery was created around this concept, creating a home-from-home for the furry residents. “Cats should be able to look at the outside world and not feel boxed in,” she explains. “The cats in our care will spend hours sitting by a window staring out at the world beyond.” In addition, Gemma prioritises her cats’ comfort, providing Vetbed for the shelves in addition to what the owners like to bring along with them, encouraging unwashed items from home, such as toys, blankets, and scratching posts to give familiar scents to the cats which helps them to settle. The units all have runs and viewing platforms, plus shelves and ladders to climb as, not only is height important for a cat to feel secure, but it also helps to keep the feline residents occupied and get some exercise whilst in the care of Bwlchgwyn Cattery. Each unit has a garden chair in its run and Gemma notes that she often sees cats curled up and asleep in them, even in the coldest weather. Additionally, when the weather does turn colder, each unit is heated with a radiator and thermostat. Over the years, the Cattery has grown through the addition of units and today gives the impression of a luxury village for cats when clients first see the layout. With capacity for up to 33 cats, there is also the ability to house several “families” of three to four cats, as well as adjoining units to house up to six from one household. The residents are offered a variety of different food types, including jelly, gravy and dry foods, plus Gemma and the team will update families wherever possible with photos of their feline friend while they are away – keeping them informed and reassured of the cats’ good health and Gemma is always keen to continue providing the level of care to her cats that clients have come to expect, as well as striving for growth. She states: “Our main aim is to keep improving the facilities we have and to keep improving our care.” For such dedication to ensuring that all of its boarders are happy and content, Bwlchgwyn Cattery gained not one, but two, notable accolades in the Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025, being named Best Cat Boarding Centre 2025 - North Wales, and receiving the highly coveted Pet Care Excellence Award 2025. Legal firm Alwena Jones & Bright Ltd has been proudly serving communities across rural North Wales for over 30 years. Having built a reputation for clear, friendly, personal service, the firm has expanded from its original base in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Alwena Jones & Bright now has four offices in Wales and one in London. We chat with Practice Manager, Yasmin Harris, about the firm’s recipe for success and plans for the future. Most Trusted Legal Firm 2025 & Client Satisfaction Excellence Award 2025 Offering a range of legal services from family law to conveyancing, and commercial law to Wills and probate, Alwena Jones & Bright has cemented its reputation as a trusted local legal adviser. With an emphasis on transparency in both processes and pricing, it's easy to see why the firm stands out. The benefits of approachable, understandable legal guidance for rural communities can’t be underestimated. As a result, much of the practice’s business comes from word-of-mouth recommendations. Despite demand, there’s only so much a sole practitioner can do. So, when Andre Bright joined forces with Alwena Jones in 2017, growth accelerated rapidly with offices in Barmouth and Dolgellau opening soon after. Yasmin tells us more about Alwena Jones & Bright’s unique approach: “We pair every client with a dedicated advisor who explains the process thoroughly. We set realistic timeframes and ensure there is complete transparency on pricing from the outset. We focus on keeping our clients informed and supported throughout every transaction. Our clients recommend us to friends, family and colleagues; we take this as a sign of real trust in the service we provide.” Due to demand, the firm now also operates a conveyancing service in London, where it works alongside local estate agents. This demonstrates just how far news of excellent customer service and an outstanding reputation can travel. Despite its success, the staff and partners at Alwena Jones & Bright keep their feet firmly on the ground. Ensuring all marketing efforts remain ethical, community-driven, and compliant with SRA standards is essential. By actively supporting career progression, the firm promotes growth from within, offering support staff the opportunity to step into fee-earning roles. A great example is Hannah Dobson, who relocated from Northwich in 2022 to join the firm. Her expertise and commitment to client service quickly stood out, and in 2024, she became a Director alongside Andre Bright. With impressive staff retention, the firm takes team building seriously, offering regular training, development opportunities, and enjoyable team events. Yasmin explains: “We’ve built a close-knit and trusted team with very low turnover across all branches. We invest in staff wellbeing through regular team activities and social outings. Recent outings have included meals together, paddleboarding in Barmouth, and hiking Cader Idris. High-pressure legal work can sometimes take a toll. To ensure staff feel consistently supported, we’ve introduced access to BetterHelp counselling services. These efforts all contribute to a positive, collaborative, and resilient working environment.” Pro bono work for the local town council is part of Alwena Jones & Bright’s initiative to give back and support the communities it serves. The firm also makes regular contributions to the local community and economy by sponsoring local teams, donating to charities, and supporting local suppliers and small businesses. Alwena Jones & Bright is committed to sustainable growth that prioritises community. The firm’s short-term goals include developing its digital presence and streamlining internal systems. In the longer term, Alwena Jones & Bright will work to increase its accreditation within the Conveyancing Quality Scheme. The firm's sights are focused on becoming the leading conveyancer in rural Wales. These awards stand as a testament to Alwena Jones & Bright’s ongoing dedication to transparency, client care, and community trust. Historic public House, The Vaults y Fenni (The Vaults), lies at the very heart of Abergavenny, situated at the rear of the market hall, and occupying a prime location for all of the town’s local events. Offering a safe, relaxed environment for customers, the family pub is a thriving community hub, providing a wide variety of quality food and lively entertainment. The owners, Tom and Amanda Alway, took on the pub in September 2024. It was formerly the Greyhound Vaults (hence the name) however the new name is accompanied with a new logo and signs, along with a complete refurbishment. Whilst it may be a historic pub, with many original features having being kept, it is a bright and airy space that is perfect for enjoying a bite to eat, or relaxing with family and friends. As a family-run business, customer service at The Vaults is of the utmost importance and Amanda and Tom have been selective to ensure that all staff are knowledgeable, friendly and go above and beyond to make each and every customer feel welcome and valued. Each staff member is fully trained as a barista too, thus enabling them to create amazing hand-crafted coffees for those simply looking for a warm beverage, something which sets it aside from competitors. But this isn’t its only stand-out selling point… Recently, cost of living has become a major concern for the whole country and, along with government uncertainty and global conflicts, the hospitality industry has been hit hard and suffered severely as a result. Amanda has found that the days of going out 3-4 times a week are declining, with customers limiting their outings to once or maybe twice a week at most. However, when they do venture out, the majority of people want something different and a little bit special. This is where The Vaults really excels. “Coming to our pub gives our customers something extra,” she tells us. “We are extremely competitively priced and we are different to our competitors - offering a wide range of food, drinks, music and entertainment (which we don't charge entry fees for). “We are unique in the fact that we offer multiply experiences throughout the week, such as breakfast, hand-crafted coffees and homecooked lunches,” Amanda elaborates. “We also feature a competitive yet fun quiz night, an evening of acoustic music, and poetry and verse at our troubadour Wednesdays.” But it is at the weekend that the pub really comes alive with a whole host of entertainment, such as live bands, music and dancing (with anything from country, blues, pop covers and singer/songwriter events. “We really have every single music taste covered,” laughs Amanda. “Plus, we have a new tree house garden which is totally unique to the area, offering al fresco dining and boasting a fully stocked outdoor bar.” For its hard work and stand-out offering, the pub recently gained notoriety in the Welsh Enterprise Awards, having being named Best Family Pub & Restaurant 2025 - South Wales, plus receiving the Excellence Award in Live Music Entertainment 2025. Now, Amanda and the team have their sights firmly set on the festive season and are gearing up for what looks to be a bright and lucrative Christmas. Beyond this, The Vaults has invested lots of time and effort securing the best live entertainment and new music for 2026, with a host of new events and ideas always at the forefront to continue to delight and engage customers. Care and Repair Carmarthenshire supports older residents by helping them to live in safe, warm, comfortable homes. The charity offers a range of services, including expert advice and support, and practical assistance to complete home improvements, adaptations and repairs. This initiative enables older people across Carmarthenshire to maximise their independence and freedom. We chat with Agency Manager, Jeff Adams, to find out more. Best Home Independence & Safety Charity 2025 - South Wales In 1979, many older homeowners in Wales were living without basic amenities, often in housing unfit for human habitation. To address those needs, Care and Repair founded its first branch in Ferndale, Rhondda. By 1990, the plight of older homeowners also remained unchanged in many other Welsh counties. However, with growing national awareness of the problem, further funding options became available. As a result, Care and Repair opened further branches across Wales. Today, having attained charity status, Care and Repair boasts 13 agencies covering every corner of the country. Jeff tells us: “Our vision is that all older people in Wales can live independent lives in safe, warm, accessible homes. Our purpose is to work towards this for the benefit of the community in Carmarthenshire. We provide services that improve the living conditions of older and disabled people in the county.” Enabling older people to remain in their own homes makes sense on many levels, but only if their homes cater for their needs. Care and Repair’s mission is to ensure its clients’ homes are fit for purpose. The wide range of services the charity assists with includes funded small works schemes, Disabled Facilities Grant work, and advice on home repairs and adaptations. Jeff explains more about the services on offer in Carmarthenshire: “We’re an established, dedicated older persons’ service offering a comprehensive approach to support in the county. Our Casework Service delivers a tailored, personcentred experience, catering to each client’s needs. This includes helping clients maximise their income, applying for eligible benefits, or arranging essential home adaptations and repairs.” Care and Repair’s technical and handyman services offer practical, hands-on support. Teams of trusted experts work side by side to help design, cost and oversee building projects, as well as carrying out essential works that reduce the risk of accidents. Jeff explains: “One of our most pressing challenges at the moment is hospital discharge support. Often, small-scale adaptations and interventions are crucial in supporting patients returning home from the hospital. Ensuring homes are safe and suitable for recovery helps prevent bed blocking and reduces the risk of readmission.” Due to the pressure on local hospitals, Care and Repair Carmarthenshire is also feeling the strain. Committed to expanding its capacity to meet demand, securing adequate funding remains a major hurdle. Funding streams are often difficult to access, and the amounts available rarely match the scale of demand. Regardless of challenges, the team is committed to offering a compassionate, collaborative service. Jeff says: “We foster a supportive and inclusive environment. We value every team member for their contribution. We work together across departments. Staff share knowledge and resources to deliver a truly holistic service. There’s a strong sense of purpose and pride in the work we do, and we are passionate about making a difference by helping older people live safely, independently, and with dignity in their own homes.” To enquire about services or to get involved, please visit the Care and Repair website. Founded by the duo of Nigel Davies and Neil Hammett (hence the ‘NiNe’), the initial aim was to provide bespoke training that could meet the needs of those employers they were already partnered with. The expertise and flexibility they offered quickly caught the attention of larger employers, who could use these offerings to train their workforces up to the expected level as quickly as possible. “We know that completing a course or apprenticeship is a big commitment, especially when learners are also balancing full-time work, family life, and personal responsibilities. That’s why we place such an emphasis on making learning fun, engaging, and manageable.” Today, this team specialise in engineering, manufacturing, and management, as well as commercial courses designed to improve efficiency using a combination of the Lean Six Sigma principles and business improvement techniques. Their mission is simple: to make training accessible, flexible, and bespoke to the needs of both learners and employers. Led by this aim and a wealth of practical experience within its focus sectors, the company has grown from two assessors to a team of seven – united and focused on this ultimate goal. Going a step further, Charlotte told us: “We are actively building networks and working with several partners to help tackle the skills gap in priority sectors such as engineering, manufacturing, and the growing net-zero sectors, particularly in the South.” Solving this challenge means preparing the workforce of the future, and this is why the company engages with schools – affording students aged 14 and above apprenticeship opportunities – and upskills existing talent to meet the demand for green skills in the years ahead. As NiNe Training’s Head of Operations recently found out, this on the back of a recent project they completed focusing on the provision of green apprenticeships and their impact on current industry needs, this demand cannot be overstated. Many of the large employers they spoke to expressed concern at the lack of training available for workers as the Welsh Government pushes through green initiatives and major investment projects, citing the need for more cohesion, collaboration, subjectmatter experts, and apprenticeships. Working tirelessly towards its aim of creating a highly skilled workforce through the power of upskilling and reskilling, NiNe Training massively benefits from its location in the Swansea Bay region, which is as beautiful as it is inspiring. “It’s such an exciting time to be in Wales”, Charlotte added. “We’re right at the forefront of what could be a green industrial revolution. There are so many opportunities that it can be hard to know which direction to go in first, but what we do know is that we want to be part of it and help in any way we can.” To this end, NiNe Training’s focus for the coming months is to grow the company, fleshing out its relatively small team to better meet the huge demands facing this dynamic sector. This will start with the company raising awareness of what it delivers, because half the challenge is people not understanding the scope of services offered by this commercial training provider in Swansea. Similarly, plans are in place to offer practical engineering training as an alternative to traditional GCSE routes, giving students an introduction into the industry. Reflecting on its recognition in this programme and what this means for the space, Charlotte explained: “I may be a bit biased, but there is so much creativity, passion and drive in the private sector. We’re knowledgeable, we’re keen, and we’re excited about everything we do. Giving us this platform and the opportunity to have our voice heard is invaluable and can only be a good thing for the sector.” More information on the training and bespoke apprenticeships NiNe Training Limited delivers can be found using the below link. Aspire Ultrasound Consultancy Services Ltd (Aspire UCS) is a pioneering Welsh enterprise dedicated to revolutionising the role of diagnostic ultrasound within first opinion veterinary practices. With a passion for empowering primary care teams, Aspire UCS stands at the forefront of sustainable, practice-based ultrasound service delivery - transforming both clinical confidence and commercial outcomes. Founded by former diagnostic medical sonographers now working as veterinary imaging experts, Aspire UCS offers a unique, consultancy-led approach that blends personalised training, hands-on mentorship, and strategic integration of ultrasound into daily practice workflows. Aspire UCS’s services include in-practice ultrasound training, remote community-based mentorship, consultancy, revenue pathway modelling and online learning, to name but a few. “Aspire UCS is more than a training provider,” explains Angie LloydJones, one of the company’s Founders. “We are a movement for better veterinary imaging. Our vision is to make high-quality ultrasound accessible, impactful, and profitable for every primary care veterinary practice in Wales and beyond. Through education, consultancy, and innovation, we are proud to be putting Welsh enterprise at the heart of global veterinary progress.” When it comes to setting itself aside within the industry, Aspire UCS stands head and shoulders above the rest thanks to its consultancy-led, hands-on approach. Through tailored in-practice training, real-time remote mentorship, and long-term service design, Aspire UCS helps practices build ultrasound into the very fabric of their clinical care. Unlike traditional veterinary ultrasound CPD providers, Aspire UCS embeds itself within each practice, delivering tailored programmes such as its flagship ‘The Sonographer on Your Shoulder’, which provides practical, real-time remote support and skill development - bridging the gap between theory and confident, independent scanning. “We have spent years teaching this subject matter to multidisciplinary professionals, many who have not come from a traditional imaging background, and we believe that having proven skills to articulate the complexities of the fundamentals of ultrasound physics and instrumentation is extremely important,” Angie continues. “We teach in a very visual and engaging way which is simple to understand, packed full of anecdotes and analogies. Our teaching is fun, but it also highly effective.” But Aspire UCS has another key element that differentiates it from competitors - the firm’s directors authored the first-ever global veterinary ultrasound guidelines, setting a new gold standard for the profession. Rooted in clinical governance principles adapted from human healthcare, these guidelines ensure quality, consistency, and accountability in veterinary imaging - raising the bar internationally. Currently, training in ultrasound is poor across the veterinary sector, Angie tells us, with most primary care vets having either taught themselves (often incorrectly), relying on focal target scanning in the hope they find an obvious answer to a clinical problem, or they are too frightened to use the equipment because they don't understand the controls. The costs of existing training are high, and as those embarking on this existing training know no better, poor training is considered as good training by newcomers. “This is why Aspire UCS is different,” she enthuses. “We have almost 70 years of combined clinical and teaching experience, much of which has come from the medical profession, where governance, safety and a full underpinning knowledge and understanding of ultrasound is expected before moving on to teach techniques and abnormal appearances.” Business acumen gained from years of designing, delivering and developing multiple NHS and private healthcare ultrasound services has given Aspire UCS the bedrock of knowledge to help transform primary care veterinary ultrasound services. It not only offers clinical and practical training and technique advice, but also the professional skills to transform existing, often sub-optimal services into a successful and sustainable inhouse diagnostics service. One which supports staff in their development at delivering safe, confident imaging along with increasing ultrasoundgenerated revenue. Recently, for its steadfast commitment to empowering veterinary professionals in the complex art of ultrasound, Aspire UCS gained notable recognition in the Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025 receiving the coveted Health & Life Science Innovation Excellence Award 2025. Now, the suture for the small close-knit team is exciting. Amongst its endeavors is the launch of the innovative 'Lillie' Ultrasound Phantom Training Kit - a series of realistic tissue-mimicking kits and a first of its kind. The firm has also attended the Welsh Government’s trade and export event in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, and led a lecture at the annual European Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Congress in Sitges, Barcelona. Finally, the Aspire UCS team is thrilled to have be instrumental in training and supporting a new referral hospital in the trailblazing development of a nurse-led diagnostic ultrasound service - a model it has advocated over the last nine years that it has been present within the industry. Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025/ 14 Mortgage & Protection Company of the Year 2025 – South West Wales & Client Satisfaction Excellence Award 2025 More than one in ten people that have applied for a mortgage would rather be stuck in a lift for 12 hours than go through the process again, whilst three in ten said that a better understanding of the process would have relieved stress, according to research by Ohpen. Mark Lloyd Mortgages exists to combat this, providing mortgage and protection advice that is clear, educational, and always in the client’s best interests. Following the firm’s recent recognition in the Welsh Enterprise Awards 2025, we heard more from Managing Director Matthew Whitehead. Based in Llanelli, Mark Lloyd Mortgages is an independent firm specialising in clear, client-centric mortgage and protection advice. Since its founding in 1988, the firm has built a stellar reputation for providing exceptional services, always going above and beyond what is expected for its clients – never stopping short of purely arranging products. As Matthew told us: “When you use Mark Lloyd Mortgages, we go on a journey, and we are on this journey with you until the end.” Clients do not approach Mark Lloyd Mortgages purely for a product, as with most firms. Instead, they approach it for its unique approach to the client’s journey, which entails financial education and a full, thorough insight into the buying or financing journey. From there, Mark Lloyd Mortgages become the client’s anchor point and safety net in the process, providing ongoing support that has earned it the Client Satisfaction Excellence Award 2025. This passion for education stems from a common market challenge. Mark Lloyd has operated within the industry since 1988 whilst Matthew himself has worked in financial services and real estate for a combined 16 years. The pair have found that they encounter the most frustration not from industry partners, but from clients being unaware of the journey’s process – questioning why certain stages take longer than others, or whether they truly need essential elements of the service. In 2020, Mark and Matthew sat together to address this, ensuring that Mark Lloyd Mortgages did not become “just another brokerage”. The pair decided to combine financial services with tailored journeys to provide clients with an in-depth insight into how the firm will achieve their goals, ultimately aiming to ensure they can enter the market with newfound knowledge, tools, and confidence. Today, this approach enables Mark Lloyd Mortgages to stand out from the crowd. “We have many great competitors in the area we live in, and some expert advice provided by most,” said Matthew, “but very few are able to offer the true insight on what actually happens behind closed doors – the bits they don’t want you to know. Having previously worked in the estate industry, we are able to combine advice and insider knowledge to reduce stress.” This combined package is a rarity in the market, evidenced by the high volume of clients who directly approach the firm to embark on what is referred to as the “Journey”. It is a significant step in Mark Lloyd Mortgages’ mission to make the process as comfortable as possible for its clientele – a mission that is demonstrated across all the firm’s endeavours, from the way it communicates with clients to the way it conducts business in the office. In comparison to its competitors, Mark Lloyd Mortgages cultivates a more relaxed environment for staff and clients alike. When visiting the firm, clients will not be greeted with tailored suits and tapping laptops; instead, they will find a refreshing beverage, a comfortable sofa, and an advisor who has sat in the same position as the client and is not afraid to share their experience. “When I applied for my first mortgage, I was in front of a desk with a very nice gentleman in a very nice suit, but I was like a rabbit in headlights inside – petrified that giving the wrong answer would jeopardise my goal of owning a home,” Matthew explained. “We are people too; we have walked in your shoes to get our own homes, and we now want to help you achieve your goal.” Since its inception, Mark Lloyd Mortgages has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring that the client journey is streamlined, informative, and prosperous. For this dedication, the firm has distinguished itself as a key player in the region – a go-to partner for those navigating the complexities of the market – and has received recognition as South West Wales’s Mortgage and Protection Company of the Year 2025. “We are people too; we have walked in your shoes to get our own homes, and we now want to help you achieve your goal.” Contact: Matthew Whitehead Company: Mark Lloyd Mortgages Web Address: www.marklloydmortgages.co.uk Mark Lloyd Mortgages
