Women in their 40s have a lot to juggle. From managing a team or targets at work to running around after teenage children when they get home, there is often little time left to take care of themselves. This can lead to food or fitness habits getting out of control, leaving these overstretched, time-poor women living unhealthily and feeling worse for it. However, things do not have to be this way. Rita Trotter, the founder of the Health and Fitness Coach (named here as the Best Female Fitness Company 2026 – Suffolk) told us how these women can regain their energy and reclaim their wardrobes.
A mum of three with a busy household and an entrepreneur managing her own business, Rita knows first-hand the difficulties of juggling responsibilities and still having enough time to manage one’s own needs. Having helped close to 700 women change their lives forever, even in the midst of them switching from their ‘work hats’ to their ‘mum hats’ every day, the message Rita shares is that taking back control of their body and their health is not out of reach – they just need a supportive, empowering programme that speaks to them.
Through the Health and Fitness Coach, Rita delivers online and in-person health coaching programmes designed just for women over 40. Both this programme and the company itself are rooted in Rita’s own experiences, as she was inspired to do something about the disconnect she felt from own her body after gaining 70lbs following the birth of her first child, not to mention battling hormones, endometriosis, and cervical cancer. Despite turning to many different places and providers for support, she always felt misunderstood.
Most of the personal trainers Rita met during this time were young men, and they simply did not know enough about women’s bodies, hormones, and the pressures of combining motherhood and work to be able to help her. After then trying every fad going: slimming groups, shake diets, etc., Rita recognised that what women need is not ‘more willpower’ or another restrictive diet, but education, understanding, and support designed for their bodies and their lives. The rest, as they say, is history.
“What began as a personal mission to heal my own relationship with food, exercise, and my body became a professional calling.”
Determined to make it so that another women never has to feel as lost or unheard as she did, Rita created CHAN6E, a six-step system that works for women with little spare time but who want to better control their habits. Those who work with Rita in-person, this at her own personal gym and treatment room in Suffolk, will experience this for themselves, through weekly sessions covering everything from fat loss and weight management to building muscle, increasing energy, and managing menopause and hormone imbalances.
Of course, it is not only the in-person sessions Rita runs which get stellar results, and as her clients in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and across Europe will corroborate, the online sessions delivered through the Health and Wellness Coach are equally transformative. Available weekly or, most notably, through a six-month transformation programme that goes well beyond weight loss (more on this below), more than 9,000 coaching hours have been completed across these areas, with over 15,000lbs of fat dropped by participants.
Exploring this programme in more detail, Rita told us: “Over six months, clients learn how to fuel their bodies, train effectively, manage hormones, and develop a resilient mindset that supports sustainable habits for life. Rather than rigid plans or short-term fixes, we teach skills, awareness, and self-trust, so that clients leave the programme confident in their ability to maintain results independently. What our clients gain is freedom – freedom from yo-yo dieting, food guilt, and self-doubt – and a renewed sense of control over their health.”
The results of this six-month programme speak for themselves, as when Rita checks in with her clients up to five years after completion, 95% have maintained their weight loss, and many report further positive changes beyond their bodies. Given this is usually the other way round – 95% of people who lose weight will put it on again within a year – it is clear the Health and Wellness Coach’s impact-driven approach to long-term weight loss coaching works, making it life changing for these women.
Reshaping fitness for women over 40 by delivering a personalised, compassionate, and evidence-led health coaching and personal training service, the Health and Wellness Coach is fitting of the title of Best Female Fitness Company 2026 – Suffolk.
