The HR Dept Publish Employment Bill Whitepaper

The UK’s largest network of HR professionals, the HR Dept, has published a whitepaper to help SMEs understand what the upcoming Employment Rights Bill could mean for them and how to mitigate it.

During the 14 years of Conservative (plus others, at times) government, there wasn’t much of a shake-up to employment law. The election of a Labour Government, and their recently announced Employment Rights Bill, are expected to bring about the biggest changes to employment law in decades.

The impact on SMEs could be huge. The Employment Rights Bill, which the government calls “the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation” will be a piece of legislation brought in front of Parliament. It will outline the changes Labour wish to make to employment law, with a heavy focus on increasing the rights of employees and banning “exploitative” practices within the workplace.

Managing Director of the HR Dept, Felicity Kenny, encourages you to get ahead of these changes,

The Employment Rights Bill could bring about significant adjustments to your business, so it is important to be prepared. Changes to your policies and procedures may be needed, alongside additional management training. Rest assured, we are here to support you through the impact of these changes and help you utilise this opportunity to future-proof your business.”

All in all, the changes could come at a cost for small businesses, both in terms of time and money. There will be more regulation, more expenses and more enforcement. So, you need to be prepared. You can download the whitepaper via the post-election impact hub on the HR Dept website https://www.hrdept.co.uk/lp/election-hub/
