We have developed the world’s first life-cycle carbon negative bricks and brick slips, which absorb CO2 directly from the air and store it permanently. They are made of excavated soil, which would otherwise go to landfill, and a novel lime-based binder. Unlike conventional lime production, which requires temperatures of 900°C, we have developed a process that can be done at room temperature. They are 100% recyclable and have comparable or superior properties compared to traditional bricks.
