Midlands Enterprise Awards 2026

Leek Hearing Centre is part of The Hearing Centres Group, a familyowned, independent chain of hearing centres operating across Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire. The chain has been operating since January 2021, with its first centre established in Bollington. Leek Hearing Centre followed as its second, launched in September of that same year. From there, the Group added locations in Cheadle, Buxton, Northwich, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and Wilmslow. Catering to clients of all ages, Leek Hearing Centre offers a comprehensive suite of ear care services. This includes ear wax removal through latest medical-grade procedures; hearing tests that range from simple screening to full diagnostic tests; independent hearing aid advice and support; in-depth consultation and advice regarding tinnitus management; and support with assistive listening devices to enhance independence and improve communication. Whilst Leek Hearing Centre delivers exceptional services, the hearing centre truly stands out for its approach to patient care. Its team are patient led choosing to take each person through a structured process of ear wax removal and a hearing check to determine the next appropriate steps. The process is centred on ensuring that the patient feels informed enough to make a confident decision about their care. Clare Snelling, co-owner said, “We are patient-led; everything we do takes a holistic approach to patient-centred care.” This approach extends beyond the service, deeply integrated into Leek Hearing Centre’s aftercare. “We offer five-star aftercare to all our patients and simply treat people the way we wish to be treated ourselves,” Bradley told us. “For instance, if you purchase hearing aids from us, we will see you every two weeks for the following three months to make sure that you fully understand what your hearing aids can do and that they produce the best possible sound for your hearing loss.” Such dedicated care is made possible by the standout team driving Leek Hearing Centre forward. The hearing centre opts to train all staff from within, with all Hearing Care Assistants (HCAs) starting on reception and trained at Starkey whilst working on the job. Leek Hearing Centre has placed three former HCAs onto the Hearing Aid Dispenser Apprenticeship Degree at De Monfort University, all of whom have now graduated. This is paired with a meticulous recruitment process. Rory Kewney, the third co-owner, said, “We work and operate not only as a team but as a family, and our recruitment process demonstrates this. Anyone who is shortlisted is asked to visit a clinic and spend time with the team. We are as interested in the team’s feedback as we are as the owners’, and their view will have a direct influence on who we hire.” Furthermore, Leek Hearing Centre directly seeks out individuals demonstrating unparalleled people skills. Every member of the team must possess the capability to engage with patients of all ages and all walks of life. “In some instances, we may be the only people a patient sees or interacts with that day,” Bradley added. “It’s important that patients feel valued and our staff reflects that.” This is a process The Hearing Centres Group will continue this year, as the team prepares to grow and expand. Leek Hearing Centre will celebrate its fifth anniversary on September 6th, and this milestone will be marked with further expansion into an eight centre at the end of September. Following this, The Hearing Centres Group will add an additional two centres to its cohort through 2027. 2026 is currently on target to be the Group’s best year to date, further distinguished by the team’s success in the Midlands Enterprise Awards 2026. SME News Magazine sends our most heartfelt congratulations to the entire team, whose tireless efforts have been recognised with the Excellence Award in Ear Wax Removal 2026 for Staffordshire, as well as its well-deserved status as Staffordshire’s Audiologists of the Year 2026.
